Pursuant to the Governor’s First Supplemental Order dated March 18, 2020, the Barbour County Board of Education will meet Monday, November 16, 2020, at 6:00pm via video/phone ZOOM conference for a Special Called Board Meeting. The Zoom login information is listed below. The Board’s agenda is attached to this email. A summary of the actions taken will be posted to the system’s website.

Special Note: The Barbour County Board of Education will host a swearing in ceremony for new incoming board members: Amy Glenn, Christine George, and Jean Kennedy. The ceremony is scheduled for 5:45pm at the Barbour County Schools’ Transportation Building and will be conducted by Judge Horne.

[08/16/21]   Good evening Parents,
In order to give our buses and drivers greater visibility tomorrow morning to spot any impacts of Tropical Storm Fred, Barbour County Schools will be delayed by 1 hour, Tuesday, August 17, 2021. Buses will run 1 hour later than normal time. Schools will open 1 hour later than their normal time. Classes will begin by 9:00am. We will continue to monitor the storm and its potential impact on our region. Please continue to follow our page for additional updates.

Good evening Parents,
Due to the shift of Tropical Storm Fred, possible damaging winds, and the downfall of tress which would make many of our roads impassable, all Barbour County Schools will be closed on Monday, August 16, 2021. The safety of our students and employees is our utmost concern. As such, Barbour County Schools cannot safely run transportation for our students in conditions with winds exceeding 30 miles per hour and many of our employees travel long distances. Please continue to follow our social media platform and webpages for updates.

[04/09/21]   NOTCE OF POSTPONEMENT OF BOARD MEETING

The Barbour County Board Meeting scheduled for Monday, April 12, 2021, has been postponed to Monday, April 19, 2021 at 6:00pm.

[04/09/21]   Dear Parents, April 20, 2021 will be designated as an E-Learning Vaccination Day for Barbour County Schools. This will allow faculty and staff to receive their second vaccination shots from the Barbour County Health Department.
Students should not report to school on this day. Teachers will post lessons or conduct live lessons virtually on this day for our students.

Administrators and the central office will be available.

[04/08/21]   Dear Parents, mask procedures will remain in effect for the rest of the school year. We will continue to require that all employees, students, and visitors wear appropriate masks or other protective facial covering while on campus, on the bus, or at school activities.

[03/29/21]   Dear Parents, due to the inclement weather of last week and the damage caused to one of our freezers, breakfasts and lunches will not be served to our virtual learners this week. We will resume virtual lunches for our virtual students on next week. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

[03/17/21]   Barbour County Schools will continue with virtual learning on tomorrow, March 18, 2021, due to the expected inclement weather. Students should not report to school. Also, as a reminder, Friday, March 19 is an E-Learning Day for all teachers. Teachers will be engaged in professional development. Students should not report to school.

[03/15/21]   Good afternoon Parents, due to the potential for severe weather, Barbour County Schools will transition to Virtual Learning Days for both Tuesday, March 16 and Wednesday, March 17, 2021. Students should not report to school. All assignments will be posted via Google Classroom or Schoology.

Also, please be reminded that Friday, March 19, 2021 is a scheduled E-Learning Day for teachers. This means all teachers will be engaged in professional development and students should not report to school on this day.
