Participants will complete over two visits in the same day plus a Prescreen Survey completed online to assess eligibility (about 5 minutes)
Morning (about 60 minutes):
(do not eat or drink 1 hour prior to the study)
-Apply a Testosterone gel (Androgel) or an inert substance to their chests in the presence of a male researcher,
-Provide a saliva sample (to measure hormones),
-Have picture taken and hand imaged (related to differences in Testosterone),
-Answer questions related to personality and attitudes,
-Complete a task you guess the emotions expressed in pictures.
Afternoon (about 120 minutes):
-Provide several saliva samples, Make a series of economic decisions, Rate brands, Complete a survey.

The following individuals may not participate in this study due to possible drug interactions and known risks:
women; minors; anyone with hypertension and/or who is currently taking blood pressure medication; anyone with liver disease, kidney disease, angina, cancer, hypersensitivity to soy, anxiety disorders, a history of seizures or other severe medical problems. People taking oxyphenbutazone (an anti-inflammatory drug – trade name Tandearil – used to treat arthritis and bursitis), insulin, or corticosteroids (the most commonly prescribed version of this anti-inflammatory hormone is Prednisone).
There are some people who may be sensitive to synthetic Testosterone and these people will be excluded from the experiment. We will give ask you some medical questions to determine if you should not participate.

Healthy males and females between the age of 19-21 and 25-45 are invited to participate in an experiment on advertising effectiveness using skin conductance and heart rate variability equipment. The devices are non-invasive and present no harm to your health. Small electrodes will be attached to your skin to monitor electrical impulses on two fingers and your upper chest. You are eligible if you do not suffer from irregular heartbeats
or excessive sweating. You will be asked to complete several surveys and view advertisements on a computer. You will earn $5 for completing this experiment and can earn an additional $5 per ad, for a total of $35. You will spend roughly 1 hour in the lab. You will be asked 1-2 weeks after the lab portion of the experiment to answer a set of questions that take 5 minutes to answer and can earn an additional $5 for this part of the experiment.

Will Run Monday Jan 21st from 12 pm to 5 pm. Please email [email protected] to sign up for the experiment

Last call for our major study of the year!
Our lab needs US and foreign-born participants between the ages of 25-50 for a research study on the physiology of social interaction.

Participants in the study will:
• Answer questions asking about basic demographic and background
information (for instance, age, mood, personality, risk-taking)
*Most items ask the degree to which you agree or disagree with a statement, for
example: “I control my emotions by not expressing them,” “I expect to perform well on
this task,” “I worry a lot about my relationships.”
• Be connected to several physiological tools that measure heart rate,
skin conductance, and brain activity.
*Tools include electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG), skin conductance sensors,
electroencephalograph (EEG). People with a substantial amount of hair in ECG
electrode areas may be asked to shave those areas prior to visiting the lab.
• Provide 10 blood samples of about 13 tablespoons total (to measure
hormones). *A saline flush will be done between draws (a procedure used to reduce
clogging of the blood draw device).
• Interact face-to-face with other people and make decisions involving
money.
• Be videotaped during interaction with other participants.

You can participate if you are between 25-50 years of age, are fluent in English, and
born and raised in the US or in a foreign country (outside of the United States). Women who are
pregnant or breast-feeding are not eligible to participate in this study. Study exclusion
criteria will be reviewed with you prior to enrollment.

Total compensation varies between $50-$1010. How much you make depends on decisions made in the experiment, but it is expected that most people will make somewhere below $500. Participation will take place over two days, between 7-8 hours total.
