Sunday, June 7: CHS Baccalaureate Ceremony 7:00PM at United Church of Christ Congregational, corner of 6th & Harvard in Claremont. SENIORS - Wear Your Gown!

Q:What is the Baccalaureate?

A: Baccalaureate is a centuries-old religious graduation tradition that started in England, but in the United States, the term generally refers to a non-denominational ceremony held a few days before high school or college graduation. Unlike the massive commencement exercises held in stadiums or arenas, baccalaureate ceremonies offer a quieter, more intimate opportunity to pause and reflect on this rite of passage, hear faculty members offer advice to the graduating class and enjoy students' musical talents.

Families usually dress up for this event, which typically runs an hour or more, and bring cameras to take photographs afterward. Many families hold their graduation parties later the same day. Graduation day itself tends to be too full, and many schools, like Claremont High, begin their Grad Night festivities immediately after the diplomas have been distributed.

Q: Since the party location is a closely guarded secret, how will I know where to go?
A: Information packets and maps to the location will be handed out before the parking lot at CHS immediately following the commencement ceremony. Graduates with paid reservations and whose parent or the previously designated adult chaperone accompanying them is present will receive a packet. Students may not pick up their own packets. Thank you for understanding.

Q: What do I wear to the Grad Night Party?
A: Suggested attire for the dinner portion of the party is “California celebration.” Typically short dresses for the girls, and slacks with a collared shirt for the guys (ties optional.) Sport coats for the dads, and a dress or pant suit for the moms. A light sweater is also suggested for all ladies.

Graduates are to bring comfortable, casual clothes for the after-party in a backpack that will be checked at your arrival of the dinner party in the backpack check-in area. No backpacks are allowed in the dinner-dance. Please be advised that ALL bags will be searched for items that are not permitted. No food, drinks or gum please.

It’s not too late to attend Grad Night 2015. We are putting the finishing touches on our planning to make sure this party is a success like none other.

Q: Isn't Grad Night at Disneyland?

A: No, although CHS does have a "Senior Day at Disneyland" on Monday June 8th, the week of graduation. (Tickets are sold through the ASB office May 19-June 4th)

Grad Night at CHS has been a long standing tradition of a parents & grad dinner event right after commencement with an all-night safe & sober chaperoned after-party for students, complete with a variety of entertainment, interactive games, lounges, catered food, and surprises!
