Last Friday, we kicked off our first partner meeting of the year! We’re grateful for the dedicated leaders and organizations that join us in empowering Allies to be the change we all want to see in our communities. This gathering provided a valuable space for connection and learning, featuring an in-depth session on Asset-Based Community Development led by practitioners April Doner and Ray Thompson in collaboration with DePaul University. We're excited to keep growing and learning together this program year!

We kicked off our first service day by helping set up Chicago VA Medical Center's Winter Standdown event, and the energy was incredible! From moving boxes and arranging tables to sorting donations and connecting with fellow volunteers, our team showed up ready to make an impact. We’re proud to lead and can’t wait for what’s next!

It’s Impact Meeting season at Public Allies Chicago! 🎉

This is an exciting time when our Program Managers visit the sites where our Allies are serving, checking in with both Allies and their supervisors during the first 90 days of service. These meetings provide valuable opportunities to see our Allies in action and strengthen the bonds with our community partners.

One of our Program Managers, Ashley, hosted an impactful meeting with Lawndale Christian Health Center, collaborating with Supervisor Jerrell and Ally Dashun. We're proud to see the meaningful work being done and the positive impact our Allies are making in their communities!

Last Friday, we had the pleasure of journeying to Circles & Ciphers, one of our partners, who graciously hosted our learning community. A huge thank you to co-directors Akeem and Annmarie for sharing the powerful vision, history, and impact of their organization.

We also kicked off our journey toward Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) certification through a day-long training led by seasoned ABCD practitioners, April and Ray, from DePaul.

Our Opening Retreat was an absolute blast! This year, we came together at Catalyst Ranch in Chicago's vibrant West Loop.

We shared our life maps, filled the room with laughter, enjoyed playful activities, and even indulged in some friendly competition.

It was the perfect start to the year, and we’re excited to see all the incredible things these Allies will achieve!

Excited to kick off Core Week with our new cohort of emerging leaders at Public Allies Chicago! 🌟 In just a few days, we've connected with alumni (Timara Wade, Larry J. Morris III, Diamond Jackson), journeyed to Gary Comer Youth Center, and dove into the history of AmeriCorps & Public Allies. We're gearing up for community explorations—and it's not too late to get involved!
