What is ABCD?

Our partners at the The ABCD Institute help to break down Asset Based Community Development and explain the values behind the movement.

We at Public Allies, commit to 'Focus on Assets' as one of our core values. In doing so, throughout the program year, our allies will be immersed in ABCD training and learn to lead through the lens of assets vs deficits.

Passions and ideas can be so big, that we don't know where to start. It is important to remember that each step we take brings us closer to a solution.

The goal of this event is to engage with veterans in [the] community who are currently experiencing housing instability or homelessness. We are grateful to be part of such an amazing event.

What are some ways you have served within your community?

"I will love the light for it shows me the way, yet I will endure the darkness because it shows me the stars," Og Mandino.

For some, it's challenging to look past the difficulties in their lives– to see the light at the end of the metaphorical tunnel. Instead, they often see their world crumbling. Nonetheless, it's important to recognize that a brighter and better tomorrow inevitably awaits, offering us valuable insights into our journey.

Language changes lives. Even as words motivate many, we also need to see those words in action. As John F. Kennedy said, "As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them."

What words are you living by?
