With a personal journey filled with many challenges including infertility, adoption, family death, being an entrepreneur, and chronic health issues, Rita is no stranger to extreme stress, being overwhelmed, and the negative impact of not taking better care of herself. Based on her own health struggles AND 36+ years of healthcare experience, Rita, as the Simple Self-Care Coach and Stress Strategist, can help YOU find some peace using simple self-care in this crazy, stressed world. Her book, “Simple Self-Care Saved Me!” was released in 2018 and has readers in the US, Canada, UK, and Australia.

Prior to opening her private massage practice in 2004, Rita said good-bye to her 20-year career in western healthcare. As a Respiratory Therapist, Rita had the opportunity to work, not only in Canada, her birthplace, but also in Saudi Arabia, and here in the United States. She has cared for patients ranging in age from premature babies to the elderly and everyone in between. During this lengthy career, Rita also had the privilege of being part of the trauma flight team at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. This role allowed Rita to gain the unique experience of caring for critically ill patients during transport flights on helicopters and airplanes. Rita’s focus has always been on helping people. Over time she has come to understand that preventing, or even just lessening, a health crisis is crucial to achieving a better overall quality of life. She saw massage therapy as the way to do this. Thus, she became a licensed massage therapist and began her journey into the world of holistic healthcare. Over time, her mission has evolved into helping ease the pain of aging of her clients through regular massage, self-care education, and awareness. The vast variety of Rita’s training and work experience has helped her gain immense insight and wisdom which has helped shape her into a truly unique self-care practitioner. Rita’s self-care workshop series, MAKING YOU A PRIORITY, is based on her life experiences, both personal and professional. She has many roles in her life today including adoptive mom, wife, business woman, entrepreneur, business owner, daughter of an aging parent, massage therapist, and healer. She draws upon each of these roles to help her connect and make a positive difference in other women’s lives. Rita’s journey has included infertility, miscarriages, adoption, family death, extreme stress, chronic health issues, chronic pain, and exhaustion. As she has learned through all of this turmoil, even the darkest of tunnels has a light at the end of it as long as you make the effort to take care of you. Simply stated, self-care is about self-preservation not self-indulgence. Please join Rita in her unique workshops to help you along your life’s path and meet other women just like you!

She had some fantastic advice to share:

1. Get Up & Get DRESSED! 👗 It is too easy to procrastinate about starting your day if you are still in your jammies.
Procrastination = Guilt = Stress

2. Set a Schedule 📅 Plan tasks for your day with deadlines to give yourself a purpose and goals.
Productivity = Less Stress

3. MOVE! 🤸‍♀️ Go for a walk (even 10 minutes will be beneficial), turn on some music & dance, do some squats ... just move your body!
Movement = Stress-Buster
