Several Colonial Charleston sites are participating in Independence Week events! Charles Towne Landing, Magnolia Plantation and Gardens, The Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon, The Powder Magazine of South Carolina, The Charleston Museum, and Colonial Dorchester State Historic Site all have exciting events or exhibits to explore while celebrating our nation's birthday.
Five historic sites in the Lowcountry have joined to help you make the most of your visit to the Charleston community during the July 4th week. This convenient guide lists activities focused on 17th century military history, the reading of the Declaration of Independence and the role enslaved Africans played in shaping local culture. Come to the Lowcountry and explore a rich history as we celebration our nation’s birthday.
