Bricks 4 Kidz Charleston, SC

We Learn, We Build, We Play...With LEGO Bricks! Visit our website for more information! Our programs provide an extraordinary atmosphere for students to build unique creations, play games, and have loads of fun using LEGO® Bricks.

The activities are designed to trigger young children’s lively imaginations and build their self-confidence, while developing elementary level skills in engineering, design, and robotics. This is a hands-on class where students will design and build machines, catapults, pyramids, derby cards, buildings and other constructions out of LEGO® bricks. While exploring engineering, architecture and physics, students will develop problem solving and critical thinking skills. Kids already know how to build with LEGO® bricks, but with a little coaching they can learn engineering, architecture and concepts of physics and mathematics using the plastic components. Each 60 min class is organized into the following schedule: 10 min lesson 35 min model build 10 min free play 5 min clean-up We Learn, We Build, We Play...With Lego Bricks!

Mission: Our mission is to provide a fun, exciting and interactive environment for students to learn STEM principles, problem solving, critical thinking and teamwork using custom-designed kits of motorized LEGO® Bricks.

Operating as usual

While there have been several new versions released in the 21st century, this is a piece by piece recreation of the original Landspeeder model, released in 1999. Does anyone else remember this set?!?! @ Charleston, South Carolina

For more advanced and older students, the Studio Design Program has a variety of higher-level features. Here are just a couple of awesome examples!

Our class welcome screens are meant to be engaging & exciting. It also gives our students a preview of who and what we will be building & designing!!!

How do we build such complex and detailed models in our virtual studio design program?

We have SO MANY cool tools at our disposal with this software. For example the ‘Hide’ feature allows us to make selected pieces invisible and hidden, so that we can see and work on an area of our creation that would have previously been hidden from view!

Do you think your child would be interested in virtual design camps or classes? Check out our website, ane send us a message/email with any questions!!!

One of our favorite things to do in the Studio Design program is build what we call ‘virtual environments’. Check out ‘Ramp World’ - just one of our many creations!!!

Well isn’t he cute - can you and your child help us name our new (virtual) Penguin??!! @ Charleston, South Carolina

We love getting silly and creative with our virtual studio design program! Can you guess the three types or bears from the color pattern?

Our Virtual Studio Design programs are engaging, exciting, and collaborative. We keep our class sizes small to ensure each child is successful!

Enroll today, only a couple of spots are left in our new classes starting next week!

One of the BEST PARTS of our Virtual Studio Design Program is the ability to mass replicate and modify whatever it is we build.

So if we build one fighter jet - we can then create an entire fleet, much faster and much easier than we would be able to with physical LEGO®️ pieces!

Are you interested in virtual design classes for your child? Visit our website to register or send us an email/message with any questions!

- STUDIO 2.0 - Bricks 4 Kidz Technic Build: Age 7-10

Our Virtual Classroom offering Bricks 4 Kidz curriculum uses a desktop application that allows users to build our Unique Bricks 4 Kidz models using virtual parts from our project kit. Students will need an active Zoom account, and also download and save the (free) Studio 2.0 virtual desktop application and the (free) Resource Library. There is also a training video available to help our students get started in Studio 2.0!

Students will virtually build the model of the day each Wednesday from 2 PM - 3 PM using our digital project kit and following along with the instructor in the virtual classroom to build the model. Students will construct the project of the day in our virtual builder and later have the freedom to make changes to their own build (including changing colors and adding additional parts and pieces to change the original design). Once the students are comfortable with the software, they are of course welcome and encouraged to use it to design their own creations outside of our virtual classroom time!

- EV3 Robotics Class: Age 8-12

This Robotics class comes equipped with unique EV3 projects to get you started building virtually! It also includes a number of programming challenges to hone your skills, and even the tools to change the physics engine itself.

Students will need an active Zoom account, will need to download and save both the LEGO® EV3 Software and the Virtual Robotics Toolkit. There is also a training video available to help our students get started with the software! We will provide the licenses for a 60 day software trial for those who register for class. Classes meet on Zoom on Fridays at 2 PM.

The Virtual Robotics Toolkit lets students store their creations as files on their computer, making it easy to come back to projects at a later date.

Both the Studio and EV3 classes will be led remotely by a Senior Instructor for STEAM, AI, and Physics with experience in First LEGO® League as well as International Robotics competitions. He is very experienced with both platforms and the virtual classroom experience as a whole. Your local Bricks 4 Kidz Charleston staff will be sitting in on the same virtual classes and are happy to try to answer any questions while we learn along with our students!

Once we feel comfortable providing a virtual experience of our own from Charleston, we plan on hosting virtual classes for our local students where we can have a smaller group and spend some time sharing!

Happy Friday Everyone!

We are SO excited to announce that we are able to offer EIGHT WEEKS of virtual classes starting on 4/15 for our social-distancing builders!!

Studio Design - Technic
We have a Studio Design program that allows our builders to use a VIRTUAL version of the Bricks 4 Kidz Project Kit to build the 'Model of the Day' in our weekly Zoom lesson, and also allows our builders to add, modify, and work on their own virtual designs on their own time! The computer program also has pieces not found in the B4K Project Kit, so students have TONS of creative options! *These classes are 60 minutes, and meet on Wednesday afternoons at 2 PM on Zoom*

Studio Design - EV3
We also have a LEGO® EV3 program for our advanced builders and for those with interest in programming! These students will also have the ability to add, modify, and work on designs outside of the guided weekly lesson. The physics engine in this program can be manipulated, so builders can experiment with their robots in outer space! *These classes are 90 minutes, and meet on Friday afternoons at 2 PM on Zoom*

All of these online programs are taught live by Certified Master Builders from other B4K franchises around the country with experience and training on the platforms and with virtual teaching. Your local B4K Charleston staff are going to sit in on the virtual classes as well, so we are happy to try to answer any questions or help any way we can!

Please see the links below for information and registration links, and reach out to us with any questions! The first classes do start NEXT WEEK, but all virtual classes are recorded so that registered students can watch and re-watch them on their own time! We do have an option to register for only the first week, if you want to give the virtual classroom a try without committing to all 8 weeks.

We learn, we build, we play...with (virtual) LEGO® Bricks!

#Bricks4Kidz #VirtualLearning #B4Konline

Hello to our Bricks 4 Kidz parents, partners, students, and community.

What a crazy and challenging couple of weeks it has been for all of us, as we try to adjust personally and professionally to the current situation.

A huge part of Bricks 4 Kidz programs and classes is being able to provide a hands-on, dynamic experience that is facilitated by Bricks 4 Kidz Instructors, and where children can collaborate & build together. That is just not something we are able to offer during this trying time, and we have not yet figured out a way to transition that experience to a virtual or remote setting.

That being said, we miss all of our students and partners SO MUCH and are actively brainstorming different ideas to provide Bricks materials, lessons, and resources to our local children & families in a way that follows social distancing guidelines. We will keep you updated and always appreciate any input or feedback.

Has your child or children built any LEGO®️ creations at home during these past few weeks? We would LOVE to share and show off these creations - we could all use some creativity, laughter, and awesomeness on our social media feeds right now!!!

Bricks 4 Kidz helps enhance children’s fine-motor skills and STEAM FUNdamentals in a hands-on, dynamic environment. Get your child involved today!
