March 6, 2020 is National Day of Unplugging!

Do you have multiple cell phones? Constantly Snapchatting every move and find it hard to get through a meaningful conversation without adding to your story? We increasingly miss out on the valuable moments of our lives as we pass the hours with our faces buried in our iPhones, documenting our every move through social media and shielding ourselves from the outside world, where real connections happen. If you notice these mannerisms in yourself – or your friends & family, it may be worth committing to the National Day of Unplugging. It is a 24 hour period – running from sundown to sundown which starts on March 6. Take this day to carve out precious time to unplug, relax, reflect, be active, visit the outdoors, and connect with loved ones.

2020 is an election year, and we know it will be divisive. There will be a lot of labels thrown around, and people will make judgments about other people that they do not know.

But you can create a different atmosphere. An atmosphere where you honor people and treat people well, whether or not they vote the same way you do.

Don’t be known for who you vote for. Be known for the way that you treat people with honor and respect, and love them the way Jesus commanded you to love them.

So what is the problem with too much acid in the body? Most of us have it as some point in time but we never realize it. A PH of 0 is totally acidic and a PH of 14 is completely alkalined. I recommend drinking half of your body weight in ounces of water daily along with incorporating foods that are highly alkaline like asparagus, broccoli, spinach, celery to just name a few.

Soothe Digestive Irritation with Slippery Elm (Ulmus rubra)

Slippery Elm has a long history of use in American medicine. Did you know? George Washington and his men found sustenance in Slippery Elm porridge during their 12 days at Valley Forge. It helped soothe "nervous stomach" and provided nutrition when they ran out of food. Medicinal preparations (teas and syrups) were used to soothe irritations of the mouth, throat, stomach, and intestines. In addition, the salve was used for treating wounds.

One of the few herbs approved by the U.S. FDA, Slippery Elm is a non-prescription drug that can help heal inflamed mucosa in the lining of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. It is commonly used by holistic physicians for treating GERD, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's Disease, IBS and common bouts of diarrhea and other inflammatory GI conditions.

Slippery Elm bark first appeared in the United States Pharmacopeia in 1820. Since then, scientific research has slowly emerged. Recent studies, combined with the historical medical uses of Slippery Elm, show a variety of medicinal applications for tea, capsules, powder, lozenges, and topical ointments. Within the bark, is a group of compounds called mucopolysaccharides, which become like loose jelly when they come in contact with water. This property allows the medicinal preparation to coat and soothe inflamed tissue in the body. The unique consistency of mucopolysaccharides allows it to add "smooth bulk" to fecal matter, which makes Slippery Elm useful for both types of IBS - constipation dominant and diarrhea dominant.

Research has revealed that Earthing (also called grounding) has the potential to restore, preserve, and perpetuate improved health. Its impact on the body is both preventive and therapeutic. For some people, grounding can feel unusual in the beginning. There may be some tingling in the body, as is sometimes experienced when strolling barefoot along the wet sand at the beach or on a dew-moistened plot of grass in the morning. The tingling sensation, probably due to improved circulation and infusion with the Earth’s healing energy.

After starting Earthing, most people say they feel better and sleep better. Sometimes it happens dramatically and rapidly. Sometimes subtly and slowly. But, without any doubt, every person’s physiology changes when connected to the Earth.

Some people who are optimally healthy and who sleep well may not feel anything significant, yet they are benefiting nevertheless from the countless ways that Earthing affects the body.
