Italian Club

Italian Studies

Benvenuto! Many students are interested in Italian because of its rich cultural heritage. As we currently offer only a minor in Italian, students in the program are usually interested in careers in art, music, design, cinema, history, politics, entertainment, comparative literature, and international business. We have hardly enough seats for students trying to enroll in the very popular beginning and intermediate Italian courses. Upper-level courses include cinema, literature and literature in translation. In summer, our students are provided the opportunity to study abroad in Chiavari & Cinqueterre where they take Italian courses in such topics as Italian politics, culture and cinema.

Mission: This page is designed to spread information about the department, advertise upcoming events sponsored by the department, and serve as a place where current French Majors/Minors/Alumni can connect.

[09/09/14]   The first Italian conversation hour will be tomorrow, Wednesday Sept. 10, at R. Kitchen. It will start at 4:15 for those not walking with the group, and we will meet in front of the library (Calhoun side) to walk there together at 4:00. Hope to see all of you there!

[09/04/14]   Thank you to those who came to the meeting today, we decided on some pretty awesome stuff! It was the consensus to have conversation hour, where you can practice your Italian, every Wednesday from 4:00pm to 5:00pm. It will be held at R Kitchen on Rutledge Avenue so we will be meeting in front of the library (the Calhoun side) at 4:00pm and walking there together--or you can just meet us there! All levels are welcome! The first Wednesday of every month we will have other fun stuff planned like Italian movie night or Italian game night, so keep an eye out for reminders!

The Italian Club is going to have their first official meeting THURSDAY SEPT. 4 from FOUR TILL FIVE at the latest. The meeting will be in BELL SOUTH 225C (Italian department office area).

We will be talking about what we want the Italian club to do this semester! Hope to see you there!!

7 Things Americans Can Learn From Italians If you've spent time in Italy you know that life in Italy and life in America are very different. While both cultures have their pros and cons, we think Americans can learn a lot from the way Italians live.
