Hello everyone,
My colleague Kim Hager and I are interested in studying the experiences and barriers to accessing mental health services for families. For the purpose of our research, we intend to compare three groups – caregivers of children with one or more mental health conditions (including developmental diagnoses), caregivers of children with mental health conditions and common medical conditions, and caregivers of children with mental health conditions and rare diseases. Caregivers include biological parents, adoptive parents, foster parents, step-parents, guardians and kinship homes with children under the age of 18. The survey is nationwide and open to families who live anywhere within the United States. The hope is the survey results will assist mental health providers in tailoring services to meet families’ needs. The study was approved by the IRB and survey is anonymous. Please help us by filling out the survey and/or sharing it.

This is such wonderful news!!
If you have not been to our local aquarium yet, be sure to ask for a sensory bag if your child needs tools to have a better experience.

https://www.facebook.com/100064673624414/posts/374926358006482/?sfnsn=mo

Our vision of connecting people to water, wildlife and wild places extends to all members of our community, and as wraps up this week, we want to share a resource available to help those with sensory sensitivities have the best Aquarium experience possible.

As a KultureCity partner, we have "sensory bags" available to check out at our admissions gate and information desk. These bags come filled with items designed to help those with all abilities enjoy a full Aquarium experience. Each bag contains noise-cancelling headphones, fidget tools, verbal cue cards and a map of the Aquarium featuring designated "headphone zones" and "quiet areas."

The Aquarium was the first facility in the state to be certified as sensory-inclusive by KultureCity, and we are committed to continuing to make our space as accessible as possible for all individuals!
