The chatters in my head have been really loud lately. I catch myself being critical of me being too critical. I question often what if Iโm doing it all wrong. Career, business, relationships, finance, my whole world. I get caught up in it so deep. Even with all the personal growth tools Iโve collected over the years, I still get steeped in self doubt sometimes. I found a note Iโve written years ago, โYou are so much more than you give yourself credit forโ and today it felt so surface. Did I really mean it when I wrote that? Did I really feel empowered and worthy then? And I stared into a void for a little while.. I just sat not sure for how long. Then at some point, my Light side voice shadowed all the other dark ones. โWho are you kidding? You already know the answer.โ
My meditation looks different sometimes.

Weโve all heard (assuming youโve taken yoga classes ๐) yoga teachers say โhug your elbows inโ in chaturanga. But like, how much are we talking here?!
If you care to know, that cue ONLY applies to those who tend to splay their elbows out wider than shoulder width distance in low push-up (or chaturanga) position.
The intention of the cue is to keep the arms in neutral (or no rotation) so the ideal distance is shoulder width for most people.
Meaning, if you already have upper arm bones (humerous) parallel to one another in chaturanga, disregard that cue and keep doing what you are doing!

Too often I see locked out knees with a rounded back in an attempt to stretch hamstrings. That can do more harm than what itโs worth.
Instead try ๐๐ฝ:
๐๐ฝ bend the knees enough it doesnโt feel too tight to hinge at the hips
๐๐ฝ fold from the hips by hinging
๐๐ฝ elongate the torso so that thereโs no intense pulling in the back
๐๐ฝ do all of the above simultaneously and work towards extending the knees only to a point thereโs enough sensations in the hamstrings but not too much.
๐๐ฝ very important, take deep breaths.

Iโm so blessed to have countless wonderful women in my life who build me up, who listen, who inspire, who advise, who support, and one in particular who gave birth to me. So much love to you all.
At first I had no idea what this black and white photo challenge was about. I learned about the origins and how it was created to spread awareness of the femicides in Turkey. To Pinar and the hundreds of women murdered in Turkeyโs femicide tragedies, Rest In Peace. I pray for you and stand for you.

The person with the most certainty and confidence will almost always influence the uncertain person.
In my work of teaching yoga and life coaching, my aim and sincere intention is to guide eliminate the limiting beliefs that hold someone back from making a decision, โIโm not ____ enoughโ โI canโtโ โit wonโt work for meโ and such, and also to instill inner power and potential that each of us hold.
Confidence is an emotional state. Certainty is an emotional state. Meaning, they are not fixed. They come and go. Sometimes we need to be reminded how awesome we are to rise to those states. So tell yourself sweetly today, ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ ๐*๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ซ๐จ๐๐ค and letโs get to work! ๐๐ฝ
P.S. miss being with a room full of yogis flowing and breathing together soooo much. ๐๐ค๐๐ป

Handstand Learning Curve
In the beginning, for many years my handstands look like this โค fling the legs up and hope for the best.
Sound familiar?
Every once in a while in yoga class I would kick up into the wall a few times and pray that I make it then move on.. Each time it would remind me that I wanted to get better but with no real plans, tools or coaches/teachers to get me there. And surely it stayed that way for a long while with no visible improvement.
It wasnโt until that I got focused and serious. I attended many weekend workshops, all day immersions, sought out skilled gymnastic coaches, hand-balancing experts, hung out with friends who had mad handstand skills hoping that it would rub off on me (and it did ๐). Shortly after, I started to see and experience many breakthroughs and ah-ha moments, and it brought more clarity on what my next steps or goals were.
If you are serious about improving and being proficient at free standing handstand, no matter where you are in your journey these 2 things will help you see the results and breakthroughs quicker.

I used to claim that Iโm not a morning person. I told that narrative to myself and to countless people for many many years. I believed it and it was no big deal I thought. And just as I claimed it, I struggled almost every morning getting out of bed. I would snooze over and over. And when I was finally out of bed, I was sluggish and grumpy starting the day off off beat almost every morning. And I wasnโt even aware. Only after I started to dive into yoga and personal development, working with coaches and mentors, I became more aware of my thinking and behavioral patterns. I realized that seemingly harmless thoughts or beliefs (no matter how small or insignificant) about myself were affecting me in very insidious yet colossal ways. I decided that I deserve a better start to each day and something had to change. So I started to tell a different story to myself. โMornings are magicalโ
Contrary to popular belief, our personalities or traits are not fixed, they are fluid. Itโs not our personalities that shape our behaviors, patterns or our lives, itโs our behaviors shape our personalities. When I first learned this concept, it blew my mind. It was so easy to justify and say, Iโve always been this way or Iโm so set in that way. So many people settle for less than ideal habits, behaviors and actions, even when they cause setbacks, pain, and struggles. It doesnโt always have to be that way. There are ways to break the patterns and choose to experience things differently. Be curious and explore your ways.
