Steve from Memorable Moments will begin taking photos of the children at 9:30. We hope to get a group shot as well. So... Please be at school no later than 9. If your child does not come on Monday please send them for the morning. Smile!

Chicora Elf Day Community Service Project » Oak Grove Montessori School in Charleston

Thank you to all who helped with our Montessori Community Service at Chicora Elementary. I appreciate your involvement in the busy pre-Christmas season.

oakgrovemontessorischool.com It was a great project for our Montessori students (and families), to give back a little to our community in the holiday season.

Start planning for Nov 25th - The annual tree decorating event in Marion Square (I know, can you believe it, before Thanksgiving this year!)

Hawk Hurst will begin sharing Native American songs and stories with us at 9:00 am tomorrow (Monday Nov. 4).
If you would like to order any of Hawk's CDs or books, please return the order form in the morning (there will be extras available).

Please remember to add this date to your calendars!
PUMPKIN PATCH: October 28: We will leave Oak Grove at 9:30 for Legare Farm. We will pick a pumpkin,go for a hayride, have a picnic lunch and make a scarecrow!
We will return to Oak Grove by 12:30 -1 :00.
$7 for children $3 for chaperones.

This week at Oak Grove Montessori we are learning about the United Nations and its mission to solve world problems peacefully. We will also learn about children around the globe and how their needs are the same but different.

This topic leads us to the celebration of the Birth of the United Nations on October 24th!

Clean City Beach Sweep & Visit » Oak Grove Montessori School in Charleston

The children at Oak Grove are great Earth keepers. With Clean City Clara at school last week and then joining in the Clean City Beach Sweep last Saturday, well done all!

International Peace Week: This week we begin our peace curriculum Honoring the Light of the Child by Sonnie Mcfarland:
"The author of Honoring the Light of the Child, Sonnie McFarland, was awarded the esteemed Living Legacy Award from the American Montessori Society in 2011 due in large part for the work she has done to further education for peace. These award winning, clearly written activities help children recognize their authentic nature and that of others while developing respectful social skills, emotional intelligence, self confidence and self-management skills."

Friedship Soup
