What can I say about Michael and Olga Wise? During my time with them at Robert Ivey Ballet, they were truly the greatest coaches I could ask for. I’ve danced in major national companies, and worked with wonderful teachers and coaches, but MIchael and Olga will always have a special place in my career.
Olga created a wonderful pas de deux for me and my partner, and she has a wonderful way of creating dance. She can immediately pick up on dancers personalities and chemistry and create something just for them. When I performed her work it felt beautifully immersive and natural, like being in another world. I didn’t feel as though I was doing choreography, but as though the movement was coming from a deeper place. Dancing her work was truly a gift.
Michael Wise… What can I say about Michael? During my time with Robert Ivey Ballet, he was my coach, my mentor, my friend, my lifeline, and a constant companion in the studio and out. He never once let me get complacent, or take it easy, and always pushed me to be the best dancer he knew I was capable of becoming. Words cannot express the gratitude and admiration I have for this man. Michael unlocked something within my dancing I never knew was there, and had a unique way of saying exactly what I needed to hear in the moment. MIchael pushed me to self motivate, and identify the small things that would end up having the biggest effect.
From the ground up, we worked and pushed and refined, and I slowly became aware of new facets of my dancing, pas de deux, and even communication skills. The life lessons that I will carry with me from Michael and Olga will be everlasting, forever two positive voices in my ear. Whenever things get tough or I feel overwhelmed in the work that I’m doing, I remember four letters: K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple Stupid. There’s always a structure, a groundwork, a vocabulary that is classical ballet, from which everything can be understood and executed.
For these gifts and so much more, I am forever grateful.

Dear Wonderful Studio Families,

Due to the evacuation mandates for Charleston and adjoining counties, we will be closing the studio on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. The status of Saturday has not been determined. Friday rehearsals are definitely canceled, but we may try to have rehearsals for Peter and the Wolf on Saturday, if you (our wonderful students and parents) are available.

Additionally, our community outreach performance at the library will have to be rescheduled due to weather related closings. We will let you know as soon as we do.

Please stay safe, and keep in touch.
As always, thank you for being a part of our studio family.
