The CSO is excited to announce the hire of Ryan Silvestri to conduct its newest education program, Charleston Symphony Youth Strings (CSYS)!

CSYS, which is part of the Charleston Symphony Youth Orchestra program, is designed for string students in grades 5-9 looking to make music in a fun and inspiring learning environment.

JUST ANNOUNCED: The Charleston Symphony has added a new initiative to its education and community engagement programs, the Charleston Symphony Youth Strings Ensemble (CSYS)! The CSYS is open to students grades 5-9 and designed to sharpen their ensemble skills and prepare them for performing in a full orchestra. The Charleston Symphony has also launched a search for a CSYS conductor. To learn more, visit csyo.org.

CSO NEW HIRE ANNOUNCEMENT

The CSO is excited to announce the hire of Kellen Gray to serve as Assistant Conductor for the 2018-2019 season. Kellen will conduct the Charleston Symphony Youth Orchestra, as well as provide artistic and logistical support to music director Ken Lam and Principal Pops conductor Yuriy Bekker. We’re very happy to have Kellen on our team!

Charleston Symphony Youth Orchestra

The Charleston Symphony Youth Orchestra (CSYO), a division of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra (CSO), is one of the leading youth ensembles in the Lowcountry and serves a diverse group of middle and high school musicians from the region. CSYO engages and inspires over seventy young musicians in a collaborative environment, where students strive for excellence with the highest quality performing arts education. CSYO offers rich musical experiences through interactions and intensive coachings with the CSO musicians throughout the season. In addition, the CSYO receives artistic oversight from CSO Music Director, Ken Lam and administrative leadership from CSO Director of Education and Community Engagement, Mitsuko Flynn.
