Can anyone provide any information on bus 314? Two days ago there were students reportedly cursing at the driver before the bus even left the school, and the driver responding in kind. Then the driver slammed on brakes called police because a student threw a rock and broke the bus window. The students got off the bus in Publix parking lot and called parents to come get them. Is that the same bus I just saw on the news today? I've just been picking my children up until I hear that the driver knows the stops, and that the students involved are removed from the bus. Thanks!

Today we are proud to feature Senior trumpet player, Liam Engelman! During his 4 years in the JICHS Band, Liam participated in and performed with Symphonic Winds, Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Marching/Pep Band. Liam brought home Superior Ratings from multiple Solo & Ensemble events. During his Senior year, Liam earned a Region Band chair and was nominated for and performed with the Charleston All-Star Jazz Band.

Liam's favorite band memory was playing the voice of Gru during the band trip to Universal Studios. Coincidentally, he plans on going to College of Charleston and majoring in Theatre to eventually pursue voice acting.

Mr. Campbell had this to say about Liam: "Gru, I mean Liam, has proven to be 100% dependable. I've always been able to count on him to show up and show out, fulfilling his musical potential. On the band stand, Liam's personality and confidence translates through his instrument, adding great energy to every Jazz Band performance, which he so loved. Liam's future is bright. Keep it up!"

Thank you, Liam, for your service! We love you!!!

JICHS Pride of the Island Band

Next up, we recognize our bass guitar player, Eli Johnson! While only a member of our program during his junior and senior years, Eli has proved to be invaluable. A transfer from one of Mr. Campbell's guitar classes, he quickly picked up bass guitar and joined our jazz band. Eli's rapid improvement and solid skills earned him the prestigious Woody Herman Jazz Award during his junior year.

Eli states that his favorite band memories are ALL the jazz band performances. His plans for next year include attending the College of Charleston.

Mr. Campbell had this to say about Eli: "What a great kid! First, Eli is a friend to everyone. He always enters the band room with a smile, ready to jam. His curiosity of music fuels his passion to perform. Within weeks of joining, Eli proved to be an integral part of our Jazz Band. We can all count on Eli to help us groove."

Thank you, Eli, for your service! We love you!!!
