New class starting August 15th..........
Design & Engineering
The engineering design process is a series of steps that guides engineering teams as we solve problems. The design process is iterative, meaning that we repeat the steps as many times as needed, making improvements along the way as we learn from failure and uncover new design possibilities to arrive at great solutions. Overarching themes of the engineering design process are teamwork and design. Students’ will gain understanding of open-ended design as they work together to brainstorm new ideas, apply science and math concepts, test prototypes and analyze data—and aim for creativity and practicality in their solutions. Project-based learning engages learners of all ages—and fosters STEM literacy.

Almost throwback Thursday …..

This book was donated to Scholastica Micro School by a local historian. I’m planning to use it, along with other historically correct resources, to teach a class about SC heritage and culture.
I believe this to be important in preserving the way of life here especially with the influx of so many people relocating here.
Any suggestions for dates/times/ages etc for this class are appreciated.

Critters 101 summer camp participants 2019.

This just in: The Who Dunnit Specialty camp will now be two sections.
Section 1: ages 5-10 7/11-7/15 8-12 $300 per detective
Section 2: ages 11-16 7/11-7/15 1-3
$400 per detective
** classes are taught by experience & credentialed educators ***
** students will be using high quality lab grade investigation kits and materials*****

So, what's this Who Dunnit? Camp about anyhow? Well, kids in elementary school will solve a crime among other things. A crime has occurred in Mrs. Randall's classroom—her favorite cookie jar was broken and some of her homemade cookies were eaten. While breaking a cookie jar and snitching a few cookies are hardly serious crimes, they are nevertheless crimes that can be solved using a forensic science approach. Your students will become crime scene investigators as they work together examining and analyzing evidence needed to solve the mystery of the broken cookie jar.
For middle/high school: students get hands-on experience with a variety of forensic science techniques, like lifting prints from surfaces, making castings of footprints, analyzing blood spatter, and more! This course is much more than simple finger printing!

Did y’all know??? Geese mate for life. A female chooses her mate based upon his ability to protect her.
They return to the same nesting spot each year and will lay around five eggs. Momma will sit on the eggs for 28-30 days and papa patrols/hunts while she does so.
