Tacoma Police OIS - 6700 South Madison St (8/28/22)
This officer was able to score a 183 yard hit under combat conditions because he knew his equipment, knew his zero, and had spent time cultivating the marksmanship skill necessary to make that kind of shot on demand.
Could you make that shot on demand? Well...there's no better way to start than to also take the time to know your rifle, know your zero, and to cultivate the marksmanship skill necessary to accomplish it. That's what we focus on producing in Carbine Proficiency. Our next offering is coming up on Oct. 8th!
Tacoma Police OIS - 6700 South Madison St (8/28/22) Viewer discretion is advised.

When using a light in conjunction with a handgun, there is no single technique that does it all. You need a command of multiple techniques to move through the world. In our Low Light Pistol Skills class, we teach you a technique for all occasions and how to make the right choice for the moment.
We also focus on how to use the light as an information gathering resource to make good use of force decisions. Hope to see you on November 5!
Understanding how to use a light in conjunction with a handgun starts with getting the techniques right. Low Light Pistol Skills on November 5th is a coaching intensive exposure to techniques for using the light effectively both as a decision making tool and in concert with the handgun.
It’s more than just shooting, but proficiency in the use of the light and the gun are the price of admission for higher functions with both.
Come see more on November 5th!
Variable power optics have advantages in the field, but they also present challenges…especially when it comes to getting on target with higher magnification settings. Brett explains a simple trick you can use to get on target quicker even with the more restrictive eye box with magnification.

Continuing to look at building the draw, let’s now look at establishing that fighting grip at the back of the gun. It is extremely common to see shooters leaving a gap in their grip because they are trying to go too far forward with the support hand. For maximum control you want the *backs* of your hands in full contact with one another.
This is the kind of coaching we provide at our draw clinic happening at the NRA Headquarters Range on Sept. 18!
Part 2 of Brett’s lesson on achieving a good grip. Come see more at our Draw Clinic at the NRA Headquarters Range on Sept. 18!
Building a good grip is key to your ability to use the pistol accurately at any kind of speed. The honest truth underlying dismal hit rates by police in fighting circumstances is that many officers have never been properly taught how to draw their pistol while building a good grip. With a bad grip on the pistol you can easily miss an entire person just a couple of steps away.
Learning how to build a good grip during the draw is a key focus of our clinic at the NRA Headquarters Range on Sept. 18!
A good draw is dependent upon having a good process. There are different stages of the draw that have to be completed properly to produce an effective end state. Here Brett gives a brief overview of the process as a whole.
Our draw clinic is happening at NRA Headquarters Range on Sept. 18!
The draw is *the* fundamental skill of using a defensive handgun. It has to be built carefully and intelligently to be reliable and repeatable when you only have a few seconds to save your life. A good draw is not measured solely by what it says on the timer, but a correctly built draw will have the side effect of being quick and efficient.
Here Brett fires his first shot of the day from a brand new holster...and it's an A zone hit. If you build your draw correctly it will be quick.
If you would like help working on the crucial skill of the draw, we have a draw clinic at the NRA Headquarters Range on Sept. 18th with a couple of seats left!

How to bring your hands together in a friction lock. Grip tension set before sight plane arrives in eye line. When to index your trigger. Angle of presentation are but a few of the critical concepts to be covered prior to the shooting and the coaching. The magic of improvement occurs with the training and coaching. Class is filling up. Based on increased interest and some client inquiries we are thinking of adding a few more events this year. We appreciate your feedback.
Proposed Pistol Proficiency in October, potential dates are Oct 1st, 15th, or 29th. VPO1 is also heavily requested, potential dates Nov 12th or Dec 11th. Additionally, there will likely be a Shotgun Essentials on Dec 5th.
