Last week we had the opportunity to host a Case Study Workshop with Dr. Li Lin from the ISE Department. Students ranging from freshman to seniors were able to estimate market size for various situations then presenting their estimations. One estimation was finding roughly how many chicken wings are consumed in Buffalo, NY per year. Thank you IISE club members for participating as well as Dr. Li Lin for leading this informative workshop!
IISE won the Outstanding Community Impact Award today from UB’s Student Engagement. Our chapter would like to thank UB for this honor! In addition, a great job well done to our club members and our executive board for making honors like these come to fruition. Congratulations IISE!! 🎉

Last week IISE hosted their Spring Research Series with Dr. Chase Murray! Dr. Murray presented the many research projects that he and his students are working on currently. These projects are exciting, up and coming solutions to present day issues and IISE was thankful to have him come present.
Up next this week for IISE is their elections for Fall 2019/Spring 2020 eboard! Come out to Bell 216 on Wednesday April 10 at 6:00pm to vote. Members with as little as one participation point are allowed to vote, so choose your next eboard Wednesday!

We hosted a graduate school panel featuring some of UB’s great graduate students! Our panelists were Zach Steever, Courtney Burris, and Dan Mayers. Both Zach and Courtney are working towards their PHD in Operations Research and Dan is part of the Engineering Management program. The event was a great opportunity for our students to learn about the graduate school opportunities at University at Buffalo. We thank our panelists and members who were able to make it!
IISE hosted a great resume review night with a special guest, Holly Justice, from Career Services who specializes in technical resumes! Thank you to all who attended to further their careers, but an even bigger thanks to Holly Justice for taking the time out of her day to help students succeed! We wish everyone luck in applying for internships and jobs with their new and improved resumes.
The IISE Mentorship Program is under way! Seniors and Juniors were paired up with freshman and sophomores to build a connection between our upperclassmen and underclassmen members. We hope to continue to foster friendships within the IE department and help the older students pass down advice and knowledge to the younger students within our club.
The IISE Conference was a great success for our chapter! We visited the University of Pittsburgh and listened to great speakers while having the chance to network with other students and professionals. Our members even had the opportunity to speak with company representatives during a career fair. Thank you to Pitt for hosting!
Pictured are IE students taking the Oath of the Engineer last week. This oath means they are pledging that they will practice engineering with integrity, fair dealing, tolerance, and respect, dedicating their careers to the protection of the public’s health, safety, and welfare. All of these individuals we can proudly say uphold these standards. Congratulations to every engineer who took the oath this past week! We wish you luck in your professional careers in the future.

Our last event of the semester was one of the sweetest! 🍪 Thank you to the alumni who were able to come back and chat with us about life after college while making holiday cookies. There were some great decorations out there, and we hope that it was a nice break from studying. Good luck to our members as finals week is approaching quickly!! See you next semester 📚

Our semiannual research series is under way! The IE department has amazing professors who conduct important, ground breaking research here at UB. We had the privilege to listen to Dr. Qing He and Dr. Sayanti Mukherjee talk about their research in transportation and risk-informed decision making! Thank you so much for teaching us more about your research, and thanks to those who attended tonight!
Join us this Wednesday at 5 pm in Bell 216 for our research series! We will be learning about the research that these two great professors conduct. See you there!
Our MBA Panel this last week was a great success. A special thank you to Tim Madden, Matt Bartone, Jesse Iannarelli, and Cody Cunningham for giving great insight into the program! And thank you to all of those who made it out and asked some great questions. Keep up the great work guys!
