Beginning 'Bone Lessons

I'm offering lessons to early trombone players that are seeking to improve their playing skill.

Hi, there! My name is Harrison Downs. I am very happy to be offering affordable trombone lessons to early players. When taking lessons, my students will gain a considerable edge in their current band program, while learning many things that can only be obtained through one-on-one sessions. Below is a little bit about me and my experience playing the trombone so far. Arkansas native Harrison Downs is a sophomore at Bryant High School, and has been playing the trombone since the age of 11. Ever since he started, he has been performing in the Bryant Band. He is currently second chair in the Bryant Wind Ensemble and performs in the Bryant Legacy Marching Band. Harrison also has a burning passion for music beyond Bryant’s campus. In the time he was eligible, he was a part of the First Junior High All Region Band all three of years; two of which he made first chair. Harrison’s playing can also be heard in the realm of orchestral music. Not only did he make first chair in the All Region Orchestra program the year he tried out, but he was accepted into the Wildwood Academy of Music and Art during the summer of 2015 and recently was accepted into the Arkansas Youth Symphony Orchestra. The vast majority of his playing skill comes from private lessons Dr. Michael Underwood, a music professor at UALR, who has met with him since 2014. During this time, Underwood taught him certain techniques and skills that required one-on-one time--something that simply isn’t available in a school environment. His current aspirations and goals with the trombone are to continue to improve and refine his playing and to share the results with the world. One such example is the piece “Cavantine, Op.144 (Saint-Saens)”, which he plans to perform in the upcoming International Trombone Festival. I charge $15 for a 30 minute session and $25 for an hour. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or if you want to schedule a time. Thanks!
