Do you know of a WA State parent or caregiver that deserves some recognition?
The Strengthening Families Unsung Hero Awards is an opportunity to bring to light anyone in your community who exemplifies the 5 Protective Factors in their everyday parenting or life. Consider those around you who you believe you might be able to take a night to bring honor to. Please also consider nominating any extended family raising a child, foster parents, or community members who are truly heroes to children in some way. 'Parenting' is not a definition strict to the mother or father of a child.
(For More information on the Protective Factors, I encourage you to visit http://www.del.wa.gov/development/strengthening/work.aspx or http://learner.ctfalliance.org/login/index.php.)
I had the honor of being nominated and chosen in 2013, along with my friend John Calvin Jones. We both received the award and were recognized for all we do for our families.
It was also another step in my life bringing me to the life I currently live now.
Lisa and I will be volunteering our time to be help with the events surrounding this opportunity to highlight the fine members in our communities.
I hope you take the time to submit a nomination for someone you see making it happen for their family's lives and their own.
