Photo of my 3 year old for attention. I'm in dire need of help. Trying to plan out my courses. I am a transfer student and most of my courses are in Psychology as that was my major at my previous school. Has anyone else had a minor in Psychology while majoring in Multidisciplinary Studies? I have a career goal of Child Life Specialist and Psychology will help with that. TIA
"I am so excited to be graduating this Saturday!
This semester has been demanding but amazing at the same time. I have experienced so many wonderful things while I've been a student at Boise State for the past year and a half. As an MDS degree-seeking student, I have taken all my classes online, so things didn't change much for me in that respect. However, having children home doing their schoolwork while I was keeping up on mine was a bit of a challenge. I will be forever grateful for the experiences I've had while attending Boise State. Thank you to the wonderful instructors and staff. I couldn't have done it without them."

Boise State University named one of the Top 50 national universities for Innovation by U.S. News and World Report.

“Our iconic blue football field is a powerful metaphor for our trail-blazing way of thinking and our pathbreaking approaches to solving complex problems at Boise State,” said Dr. Marlene Tromp, president. “We have developed new strategies for teaching, research, and service — the vital work of a public university. This important recognition demonstrates that Boise State is nationally known for ‘Blue Turf Thinking’ in academics, student services, and community service, not just in our championship football program.”

We’re proud to contribute to the growth in student enrollment for the university and even more excited to contribute to a growing alumni group!

Student enrollment at Boise State University continued its upward trajectory this fall, with the university welcoming nearly 26,000 students to classes in person and online.

The overall university enrollment is 25,829, an increase of 7.2 percent (1,726 students) over last fall and a 6.9-percent increase over 2017.

“Boise State has consistently found new ways to reach students, meet industry needs, and positively impact our state, often in ways that serve as a national model. In fact, we were just named one of the top 50 most innovative universities in U.S. News and World Report,” said Dr. Marlene Tromp, president. “Growing our Bronco family — both our current students and our 100,000-plus living alumni — allows us to contribute an ever-greater positive impact in our communities and our state.”

In addition to enrollment growth, Boise State broke records in 2021 for research awards, which also impacts the student experience at all levels of their education. Tromp said Boise State strives to be a unique kind of research university, in which research is fully integrated into how people teach and learn, helping students become innovative thinkers and leaders.

Our Story

This program’s flexible curriculum allows adult students to maximize credits already earned and shorten the time needed to complete the degree.

Multidisciplinary Studies (MDS) students have a great deal of freedom in selecting upper-division course work that meets their individual life and career goals. Additionally, students can complete their degree plan requirements completely online. Students Individual Degree Plans (IDP) are developed in MDS 300 – Communicating Universally.

Students will work closely with an advisor to develop an academic degree plan that will help them meet their stated goals. Students desiring a more narrowly focused, discipline-specific course of study should consider one of Boise State’s traditional majors.

Students considering applying to the Multidisciplinary Studies program should contact the MDS Intake Advisor at [email protected] for general information and assistance with applying to the program.
