With all the challenges and uncertainty right now, the one thing we can control is continuing to educate ourselves on being the best After School Program we can be for our students. "Building Exceptional After School Physical Activity Programs" is a Facebook Group community filled with OST Professionals wanting to connect, share, and continue to learn how to enhance the physical activity portion of their program. Whether through distance learning or on-site, this community is there to help each other. The group is only a week old and already has almost 100 enthusiastic members! Youth age 13 & up who share their views in a written, video, or art piece may be featured on the Afterschool Alliance website, and may be invited to apply to become an Youth Ambassador! Youth whose work are selected to be featured will receive a $75 gift card.

Last week the Idaho Out-Of-School Network held the Behavior Management Institute for after school professionals in Idaho! This included the three tiers which are, Behavior Management 101, Trauma Informed Practices, and Youth Mental Health. We had the honor of Dr. Katie Azevedo along with ION staff instructing these tiers and truly enjoyed the experience with all of the teams that attended in person and over zoom!

The PASS afterschool program at Pinehurst Elementary is a recipient of ION's Idaho Community Programs for Youth Award. They had a wonder-filled experience yesterday snow shoeing. The Director, Deanne Fitzgerald said, "From my perspective, the past two days were the highlight of my afterschool career, being able to share my outdoor experiences with our PASS kids and seeing all the smiles on their faces. They were so excited to try something new even though it was out of their comfort zone. We are looking forward to many more winter adventures. Thank you ION!"
