The Afterschool Math Plus Curriculum Training Series two final webinars are this November and December. Each webinar includes strategies to support a positive Math Identity (e.g., role models, career connections, family connections, literacy connections).
November 14 at 11 am (MT) / 10 am (PT) - MusicMath: Discovering Music Fractions
Identify and represent parts of fractions using music and explore combinations and permutations, or ways of creating variety while still using the same elements.
December 12 at 11 am (MT) / 10 am (PT) - MusicMath: Orchestration
Use fractions to create musical compositions, then perform the compositions using found instruments (pans, boxes, pencils, whistles). Create new combinations and permutations for the music fractions.

Nurturing STEM Identity and Making Career Connections is a virtual training by ACRES on three Mondays: 11/6, 11/20, and 12/4 at 1 pm (MT) / 12 pm (PT). Experience several easy-to-implement strategies that can help youth form STEM identities, and then learn how to conduct related activities with youth. Attendees learned how podcasting can be used to stimulate interest in STEM in an interactive session taught by Beth Schadd at the Power Up Summit on September 21st.

The NASA TechRise Student Challenge is an amazing opportunity for students in 6th-12th grade to submit an experiment idea (that's right, just an idea) to fly on a rocket-powered lander or a high-altitude balloon. Winning teams will receive $1500, engineering support to help build their experiment, and an assigned spot, to test the experiment, on a NASA-sponsored flight.
