Cashmere knit wear designer and knitting machine teacher.
Operating as usual
Matchy matchy. Why try new colors when you know what you like?
What are your go-to colors?
Love is love. These scarfs were created out of my passion to be a safe and loving person to my friends, family and friends I haven't met yet in the LGBTQ+ community. I love you, I accept you and stand with you!
The ideas are endless. The time however, is not! It is tough sifting through what I want to create and what I have time to create. I've mentioned before that the award for being an amazing starter of projects goes to me. One of my goals this year is to FINISH projects!!! I'd like that award too.
I love hand seaming. I gotta have something to do at night while I watch TV or ... I'll fall asleep on the couch. (Can I get an Amen?) But my trusty linkers sure do make fast and beautiful seams. This is a shoulder seam for a set-in sleeve on a classic crew neck sweater. It'll seam like magic in minutes!
Do you work with a linker?
Well aren't you pretty?
Now to use my design magic and turn this idea into a garment!
The backside of fair isle color work on the knitting machine is just so lovely. I am swatching away as I work through an idea I have in my head. It's so fun to dream of something then make it happen. And in my best Tim Gunn voice I did indeed just say "Designers, make it work!"
When you have an idea in your head but you're not sure what colors you want to use ... you buy all the colors so you can sample knit until the cows come home. This palette make my heart sing!
Crazy yarn hairdos happening today in the studio.
My personal favorite design of mine. This is the Meredith Infinity Scarf. She is worked in luxury cashmere yarn in Fisherman's Rib - also called Brioche Stitch. I sell these in a nice handful of soft neutral colors and this fan favorite color!
This lofty infinity scarf is light and airy and because it's cashmere, it's warm and cloud soft! You can find it on my website.
Working on a classic crewneck, set in sleeve, machine knitting sweater pattern. Taking all the measurements and checking them twice. I love math.
When you become an empty nester, a puppy helps fill the void. This little giant baby is busy now but when he is a full grown 150+ lb newfie, he will keep my feet warm while I work on my knitting machines. Meet Juggernaut. At the time this pic was taken he was just 3 months old. He is now 6 months old and weighs in at a whopping 106 lbs! Fur babies are the best! Do you have a fur baby?
My sweet momma who recently took up watercolor painting, painted this for me. It's a perfect reminder to see where I've been on this entrepreneur journey.
These are skeins of Lux Adorna Cashmere Yarn. I no longer make and sell yarn and this painting displays at my desk to remind me to celebrate past achievements! I am proud of what I built in Lux Adorna and am also feeling free as I move forward where my creative mind takes me. This is the artists life.
This is my reminder, hanging at my desk that I see everyday. And I am.
I am an AMAZING starter. Finisher ... not so much. This sweater ... this glorious sweater, is one of my all time fav designs that sat in the "Patter-To-Be-Written" pile for far too long. Is it time to get this one written and published? Most definitely.
Another sunny day. Another opportunity to bask in my work.
I sure do miss teaching machine knitting in person! I have a bug in my mind that just will not go away...
I am thinking about offering an in-person machine knitting weekend workshop. *GASP* Can we really start planning get-togethers again? I am hoping so.
Who might be interested in getting more details about this? Let me know in the comments.
Spring is arriving. New growth, bright colors and sunny mornings are inspiring me to let my creativity run. I am thankful to live in a place with all 4 season where I can lean into and embrace the feelings and emotions each season brings. It's been a dark winter so this spring is especially welcome.
From temperatures in the mid 70's on Friday to a snow day on Sunday. Oh Idaho, your fickle springs always remind me it's not time to pack away the winter clothing yet!
Today is a cozy up with a decaf mocha breve and catch up in front of the computer kinda day.
When looking for coordinating yarn in your yarn stash and you find these beachy neutrals, you feel a moment of pride for being really good at having all the right colors tucked away.
Project: Fingerless Mitts
When I teach folks how to knit on a knitting machine, it's important to me that not only do you learn a cool new skill, you also make fun things! And these sets of fingerless mitts are indeed fun things.
Course 2 goes live in April where I teach you 3 different turned hems and fully fashioned increases while we make 3 sets of mitts. Go ahead and start making your holiday gift giving list now, everyone will want these!
A little behind the scenes as I am organizing the next Learn To Knit On A Knitting Machine Course. In Course 2 we will be working on turned hems and fully fashioned increases when we make fingerless mitts. Oh goodness, they are cute too!

Ok hand knitters. I know I can't be the only one addicted to cute little tins full of stitch markers. Fess up.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I will be bringing loads of these to Stitches West this week in Sacramento. Come grab a few in booth 529.

Got the new website up and (fingers crossed) running smoothly. My goal for the year is to simplify and then simplify some more and when tempted to take on too much, remind myself that my goal is to simplify! Not an easy goal for someone who wants to dive into a million things. I am learning it is smarter and healthier for me to focus on one thing. Well - several things but those things must all fit into one container. My container is cashmere accessories, machine knitting and teaching and it's all in one happy website place. www.heidihennessy.com
