Will you be doing a lantern walk soon?
Hello Peace Valley Education Foundation, my name is Jesse Snow.

I am reaching out to you wondering if you have need for a custodian. I do everything from; heavy yard work to deep cleaning, organizing and sanitization.

If this is something that you might be interested in, I would love to talk more with you. If not, I understand. Either way, I hope you have a wonderful day 🙂

I have conflicting information on start and end times for 2nd grade for 2019/2020 school year. Also unsure of thursdays early release time.
Good morning Peace Valley Education Foundation Staff, this is Michael Forman.

I am an urban farmer who also runs garden education program for middle school students that teaches valuable accounting, design, building, science and math skills and would like to speak with you about this.

Would you support a program like this for the Peace Valley Charter School Students?
Is this the right page to send friends to for the school? Does the school have a separate fb page?
Hi, Laura Henning de Zavaleta.
I am excited for your school. I will look forward to see what all you are doing throughout the rest of this year.
Congratulations. I know you worked hard to get it started!! I am excited for Karter to be able to join you next year.
I don't know if you are interested in ideas, but this was one of my favorite fundraisers, everyone NEEDS more flowers (in my opinion):
I was unable to attend the meeting last night. Will there be a post summarizing what was discussed?
Welcome to the Qgiv family! We’re so excited to watch you grow with us and continue making a beautiful impact in the world! Never hesitate to reach out if your team needs assistance. #teamqgiv

As many of you know, due to space constraints, the Foundation is no longer able to lease space from Peace Valley Charter School. Since we will no longer be on campus, it is not feasible for the Foundation to continue to run the before and after school programs for PVCS. As such, the Foundation will no longer be operating those programs. There is the possiblility the school itself will be taking over those programs. If you have questions please contact the school directly to inquire about the programs for the upcoming school year.

Also, after months of searching, we were unable to find a suitable commercial location for our preschool, Wildflowers Playgarden. In an effort to maintain continuity of care and in order to continue to have a Waldorf early childhood program in the valley, the Founation has transferred ownership of Wildflowers to our former Interim Director, Laura Henning, to operate as a private entity. She currently has one location out of her home in Boise and is working on plans to open a second location in Meridian in order to serve all the families we were able to serve in a commercial space. The Foundation is so happy it was able to make this transfer so that the Valley's children will continue to have a Waldorf early childhood program available to them. If you have questions regarding Wildflowers, please contact Laura at [email protected].

Researchers have shown that when children grow their food, they develop “food empathy”, which is a deeper connection with food, which leads to a healthier life. These kids have better diets, eat more veggies and fruits, and understand nutrition better.

Something to ponder....

With standardized testing and federal programs like Common Core, which focuses mostly on math and English, there is little that teachers are allowed to bring to the #learning experience, and creative #teaching styles are trivialized and pushed out of the classroom altogether. It’s as though U.S. public school have now been entirely co-opted, stolen even, from communities, and no one at any level in the actual school building has a say in what students do during the school day.

What effect will this have on the #ingenuity and #creativity that is to come from America’s future generations?

Rudolf Steiner believed all humans had the ability for self-improvement, spiritual growth, and the potential to change the world around them. Bearing that in mind, Waldorf schools are based on the philosophy that imaginative and practical, hands-on work is the best way to promote learning. Children are introduced to lessons through music, visual arts, dance, writing, and myth. Even classical mythology, cultural folk, fairy tales, and religious images — from the Buddha to angels — are common in Waldorf classrooms.

Through creative arts, such as knitting and woodworking, students also learn basic mathematical skills of counting, geometry, and fractions. They learn about science, zoology, and biology by crafting animals and dolls out of pine cones, rocks, and other materials they find outside. Outdoor classes are not only offered at some Waldorf schools, students are encouraged to get muddy and play in the rain.

To be ready for a Waldorf first grade, children ideally will have spent as much time as possible learning to master the use of their bodies, their emotions and their imaginations.

Taking time to master these skills is vital to the whole health of a young academic mind.
