[11/07/15]   College Ready Tip of the Month: Make sure to be aware of deadlines.
-A lot of early admission college applications are due by the end of November.
-Keep applying for scholarships and be aware of those deadlines!
-Have your personal essay ready to edit and revise it for different applications.
-Ask teachers/counselors for letters of recommendation for applications!

[11/05/15]   Financial Literacy Tip of the Month : In order to become an organized and responsible individual, you should learn how to create a budget to not only avoid surprises in the future but also:
-Itemize and manage your income, expenses, and savings.
-Recognize how you spend your money and how much you spend in given time period.
-Plan the savings you will need for unforeseen expenses or changes in income.
- Make decisions about your money both today and as your circumstances change over time.

Keep in mind you will need to identify your sources of income and determine your fixed and variable expenses. Fixed expenses are set figures that don’t change from month to month, such as a car payment. Variable expenses will vary from month to month, such as entertainment (movies, eating out etc.)

[05/13/15]   Financial Literacy Tip of the Month: Know the Difference Between College Saving Plans versus Prepaid Tuition Plans

College savings plans is when you contribute to an individual investment account to pay for the student's future education. Your money is invested in a particular investment account at the time you created the plan and inserted money in and then you take your chances on what your rate of return will be. Always remember that the rates are not always guaranteed. If your account does well it gains the benefits in other words the money but if it doesn't you do not receive none.

By contrast, with a prepaid tuition plan, you prepay all or part of a student's future tuition by investing in units or contracts, and you're guaranteed a minimum rate of return. However, you aren't necessarily entitled to any extra money that the plan may earn.
