Are you celebrating the mathematical constant Pi today?
The value for Pi is approximately 3.14, so every March 14, number lovers get to have an INFINITE amount of fun!
Here are some activities you can do with your kiddos to celebrate National Pi Day. ⬇️
🍕 Eat a pizza Pi (more pepperoni, please)
🥧 Bake a Pi (how about chicken pot pie for dinner with apple pie for dessert?)
♾️ Do the math. Measure the diameter and circumference of round objects, divide the circumference by the diameter, and see if you get 3.14 every time.
📗 Read "Sir Circumference and the Dragon of Pi" by Cindy Neuschwander

Today, focus on hydrating, eating healthy foods and laying out everything you'll need so that you can get a good night's sleep and do your best tomorrow!
Be sure you're familiar with the question types, structure and timing, so you'll be more comfortable on test day.

Today we are celebrating a notable figure who fought for woman's equality in the mid-19th century - Susan B. Anthony.
Susan B. Anthony was a champion of temperance, abolition, the rights of labor, and equal pay for equal work. She traveled around the country along with Elizabeth Cady Stanton delivering speeches in favor of women's suffrage. In 1888, she helped to merge the two largest suffrage associations into one, the National American Women’s Suffrage Association. She led the group until 1900.
Anthony died in 1906, just 14 years before women were given the right to vote with the passage of the 19th Amendment in 1920.

Dr. Ellen Ochoa, a veteran astronaut, was the 11th director of the Johnson Space Center. 🚀 She was JSC's first Hispanic director, and its second female director.
Ochoa joined NASA in 1988 as a research engineer at Ames Research Center and moved to Johnson Space Center in 1990 when she was selected as an astronaut.
She became the first Hispanic woman to go to space when she served on the nine-day STS-56 mission aboard the space shuttle Discovery in 1993.
She has flown in space four times, including STS-66, STS-96 and STS-110, logging nearly 1,000 hours in orbit.

Did you know Abraham Lincoln's school books are in the Library of Congress?! For some Presidents' Day math fun, lets try a math problem he did at age 16:
If 100 dollars in 1 year gains 3 and 1/2 dollars interest, what sum will gain $38.50 in one year and a quarter?
What answer do you get? Share with us in the comments!
To solve it, Lincoln first put the time in months.
There are 12 months in a year, and there are 15 months in 1 year and a quarter. He then calculated the answer using proportions. The amount of interest earned per month per dollar has to be the same in each scenario. So:
($3.50)/($100 × 12 months) = ($38.50)/(x × 15 months)
x = (100 × 12 × 38.50)/(3.50 × 15)
x = (46200)/(52.50) = $880
This problem must have been a little bit tricky without a calculator, but Lincoln did all the steps correctly!

Today's honors our country's first female African American space traveler.
Mae C. Jemison received two undergraduate degrees and a medical degree, served two years as a Peace Corps medical officer in West Africa, and was selected to join NASA's astronaut training program - all before she was even 30!
In 1992, she traveled in space for eight days aboard the space shuttle Endeavour.
