Congratulations to Sabrina Payne, past PTA co-president at Project Impact STEM Academy! She is a winner of the national Shellie-Ann Braswell “Shine Brighter” award, an award that honors charter school volunteers. She travelled to Washington DC and received the award during the National Charter School Convention!

Earlier today, we announced the first of three stand-out finalists for the Shellie-Ann Braswell ‘Shine Brighter’ Award. Each finalist was nominated by the public charter schools they support! Three grants will be awarded at the 1st Annual Building Hope IMPACT Summit & Awards in June to promote the continuation of the volunteers’ work: one $5,000 grant and two $2,500 grants.

The second finalist is Sabrina Payne, volunteer at Project Impact Stem Academy in Kuna, ID. For Sabrina, whose activities range from leading the PTA to organizing a family STEM night to bring the community together and showcase how children’s learning connects to future careers, giving back is a way of life that rewards and enriches her own life. Whenever there is a need at the school, Sabrina finds the will and the way to make it happen. Payne said, “I want to build a community that helps our kids because our community, our lives, our world is so much better when we have that unity, that connection, and that comes by nurturing our children and starting that when they are young.”

The last remaining finalist will be announced soon. Check in with us tonight!

Our awesome Ana Earl was featured in this great article by Bluum. Yes indeed, we DO need and appreciate you Ms. Earl! 💜 Of all the schools in the world, thanks for choosing us.
Bluum, along with the J.A and Kathryn Albertson Family Foundation, conducted an analysis of student outcomes for Idaho schools implementing full-day kindergarten. With JKAF awarding Bluum $1.5 million in 2020 and $1.5 million again in 2021 to fund full-day kindergarten for 17 partner schools, they sought to find what does and doesn’t work when it comes to the education of our youth.

As expected, the analysis found substantial academic benefits for students who attend full-day kindergarten, which aligns with national research. The researchers note that while the average impact of full-day kindergarten is large in Idaho, the outcomes “vary a great deal from school to school.”

Our members are always looking for a worthy cause to donate to. Here’s a cause that hits home as the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks draws closer.

Our friends at Elevate Academy in Caldwell, Idaho are sending 25 students to New York to visit Ground Zero. They are part of the Bluum network of schools and we are proud to be able to support them.

They will get to interact with first responders, survivors, and other educators to ensure that the next generation understands the magnitude of that day and how it affected so many lives.
