Well, this school year is a wrap! It has been an amazing group of kids! They are so kind, patient, smart, funny, good listeners, and on and on. A lot of them will be moving on to kindergarten and I know they will do great! I’m so glad I still get to see some of them next year! Have a great summer!!

In March we talked all about spring! We learned about the life cycle of a butterfly by raising caterpillars, watching them make a chrysalis, and then emerge into butterflies! We learned about the life cycle of a flower and planted our own flower seeds. We watered them, put them in a sunny window, and waited for them to grow! Some were way faster at growing than others! We learned about baby animals like bunnies, ducks, and birds. We also learned about the weather spring brings such as wind and rain and talked about why they are important. March was such a fun month!

We ended our month with a teddy bear party! We sang and danced with our bears, we measured our bears with cubes, and we ended our day with a teddy bear picnic!

Mindful Moments Preschool & Before/After School Care

Look at the differences between a typical younger child’s hand (left) and a typical older child's hand (right). I have parents asking regularly why their preschool aged child isn’t able to write yet. This is why! Their hands (and brains) are still developing and are not fully formed. So what should they be doing to support this? PLAY!! Playdough, colouring, cutting, gluing, playing outside, digging in dirt, sensory play, dress up play, science experiments, beading, puzzles, throwing balls, etc. All of these things help their hands develop. When they are physically ready to write, they will! No need to rush them, they will show you when they are ready!

[06/08/20]   I'm starting a two day a week Tuesday/Thursday 12:45-3:15 afternoon class this coming fall! $85 dollars a month! Only six spots available! Spread the word!
