Thank you Discovery Center for sparking my son’s interest in King Tut and ancient Egypt! He had a blast with this unit study and visiting your exhibit!
Hi! When do you anticipate re-opening? Thanks!
Do you love LEGO? I do too, and tomorrow, I will be seeking help to build a new base for the Saturn V. We will start in the morning and should be done early afternoon. Come and help me build! Also, I will need to take the Saturn V down to install this once done, so you can also get a glimpse of the inside of this kid-built wonder.

Important Update. Please Read.

Due to the change in CDC guidelines and the lifted mandates within Idaho, we have updated our mask policy.

Since so many of our visitors are children that are not yet able to be vaccinated, it is our responsibility to protect them the best we can. We will do this by highly encouraging visitors age 2 and older to wear face masks within the galleries. Face masks are not required for fully vaccinated individuals.

We will continue to require social distancing between groups and pre-purchased tickets for limited capacity timed entry into the Center. In addition, our team of staff and volunteers will continue to wear masks in the galleries until further notice and keep up with regular sanitization of exhibits.

We're grateful to everyone who sacrificed over the past year to help put us in the position to take this step.

For the latest updates, visit dcidaho.org. If you have any questions or concerns, please email our team at [email protected].

#Titanic lies approx. 2.5 miles below the North Atlantic Ocean. With the discovery in 1985, scientists have been able to use the wreckage to better understand the geological, biological and chemical processes of the deep sea. 🤿

To scientists' surprise, Titanic unintentionally became an artificial reef. Twenty-four different species were found to have made a home at the site.🐟🦀

With an increased number of coral reefs disappearing, a popular response has been through the intentional construction of artificial reefs. It's important to note that while an artificial reef can serve to create new habitats, it requires extensive planning as to not introduce toxic materials or destroy organisms and their environment.

In honor of #WorldEnvironmentDay, learn about the upcoming exhibition, Exquisite Creatures. 🌎

Exquisite Creatures offers a unique experience to visually enjoy the natural world, removing the threat we naturally feel from unfamiliar organisms. With this fresh perspective, it further allows humans to explore their personal connection with nature and garner greater understanding of these species.

How do 'creatures' benefit humans? Here's one way: Scientists estimate that 70% of the oxygen in our atmosphere comes from tiny marine plants. 🐠🌱

We believe visitors will leave with a newfound sense of responsibility and connectedness with our natural world - promoting greater care for our depleting environment.

You might recognize our incredible #volunteer Jen! Jen joined our volunteer program in March 2020, only weeks before the Discovery Center closed due to COVID-19. Without missing a beat, she was the first volunteer to jump in and help out with King Tut: Treasures of the Tomb.

Jen has garnered tons of emails and reviews from visitors praising her expert docent skills, and continues to serve as a leader amongst the volunteers for #Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition.

We are happy to celebrate Jen and hope she remains a part of our family for many years to come!

Watch the lunar eclipse in Colorado

Who caught this morning's Super Flower "Blood" Moon and total lunar eclipse? 🌒

There are three types of lunar eclipses - total, partial and penumbral. A total lunar eclipse is when Earth's shadow completely covers the moon. 🌎

"Although the moon is in Earth's shadow, some sunlight reaches the moon. The sunlight passes through Earth's atmosphere, which causes Earth’s atmosphere to filter out most of the blue light. This makes the moon appear red to people on Earth." 🔴 #supermoon
