December Bible Lessons: Jesus is Born
Happy Birthday, Jesus! What a miracle: God taking the form of a helpless baby in order to walk with us and do it right. Then to take our punishment, take our sins to the cross, fulfilling the promise God gave to send a Savior to redeem His people! We are blessed to be able to share this message with our children. We will learn all about the birth of Jesus our Savior.
Hello, and Welcome back, Parents and Students!
As we begin the 2016-2017 school year, we'll have a new assistant, Teacher Shaun! However, Shaun will only be staying with us through November, as she has a prior commitment. Please continue to pray for another assistant, and pass our name along to anyone interested in the position.
Our open house day this year is Thursday, September 1st. Please refer to the flyer sent out via snail-mail for your class time. Regular classes for 3s begin Tuesday, September 6th. PreKs begin regularly scheduled class time on Wednesday, September 7th. See you soon!
Our final month promises to fly by as we welcome the warm weather. Our final theme, Bugs, will bring about outdoor searches for insects, arachnids, and isopods (ask your kid what each is!). We'll also be incorporating various bug songs and poems into our schoolwork, even as we begin to wind down.
The Bible theme for the month, Obedience, will hopefully become the norm, both at home and at school, as listening becomes ever more important. Ephesians 6:1 "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right."
PREK CLASSES ONLY: Spring programs will be held on Friday, May 20th. The morning class program will be at 10:30, and the afternoon class program will be at 2:00. All parents, grandparents, and friends are invited, and there will be a small cookie/juice reception hosted by the preschool immediately following each program. Hope to see you there!
With the end of school come our traditional "Parties in the Park". On the last day of school, we meet up at Baggley Park for some play time, socialization, and a nice picnic lunch. Parents, food signups are posted now. BOTH Littles classes will meet at the park at 10:30 on Thursday, May 26th. BOTH PreK classes will meet at the park at 10:30 on Friday, May 27th.
As most of you know, Teacher Melissa is expecting a baby mid-June. She has made the difficult decision to stay at home, and therefore will not be returning in the fall. We're currently accepting applications for the Assistant Teacher position, and her replacement will be hired and trained by the Parent Orientation in August. Please keep us in your prayers as we seek God's will in this matter.
Can you believe we only have two months of school left?! And a lovely couple of months they promise to be!
Our April theme is seeds and growing things, and the weather is so kindly cooperating to go hand-in-hand with our theme! Each student will get an opportunity to plant their very own seed. As we watch the little sprouts grow, we'll discuss the parts of plants and what they do, what plants needs to live and grow. Now is a great time to get your kids involved with your spring planting!
Our Bible words for the month are Colossians 3:13 "Forgive as the Lord forgave you." The Bible teaching theme of forgiveness marks the finale to our Easter lessons, as we discuss Peter's being forgiven by the Lord after His resurrection. We're all practicing saying "I'm Sorry" and "I forgive you" in our daily dealings with our friends. Parents, feel free to reinforce this at home!
The spring Field Trip to the Botanical Gardens will further reinforce the "seeds and plants" theme. All Pre-Ks will meet at the Botanical Gardens at 12:30 on Wednesday, April 20th. All Littles will meet at the Botanical Gardens at 12:30 on Thursday, April 21st. Please note, parents are responsible for transportation- please inform teachers if your child will be coming with someone else. Parents, please also don't forget that the cost of this field trip is $2 per person (not just students!). This price is payable to Teachers Chris and Melissa before the 20th so that we can present the Botanical Gardens with a single check and a solid number of guests.
We're back from spring break with a beautiful new coat of paint on the walls, feeling fresh and ready for open registration. Remember, ANYONE can now stop by to register! We do have space in each class, so call or stop on by today before those spaces fill up!
We haven't been informed yet when our new carpet will be worked on, but we'll be keeping you updated as we're filled in. Here's hoping it'll be on a weekend so we won't be displaced! Again, thank you all for bearing while the building is in disarray. We appreciate your patience and understanding!
Parents, this is the last week for priority registration, so make sure you stop on by to register for the 2016-2017 school year!
Please continue to bear with us as the church's updates disrupt our hallways just a bit. We should be back to normal (with a new coat of paint!) right after spring break!
March's theme is Easter, so expect to hear lots about bunnies, eggs, butterflies, and the empty tomb at home! With the unusual timing of Easter this year (Sunday, the 27th), we'll be having our Easter Parties before Spring Break. Parents, please sign up on our classroom door to bring party goodies for your respective party.
Spring Break will be March 21st through 25th. NO CLASS!
Also, don't forget: open registration on a first-come, first-served basis begins Monday, March 28th at 8:00am. We appreciate your recommendations to friends and family!
REGISTRATION FOR 2016-2017:
Priority Registration begins March 1st.
Priority is offered to current BSP families, families of former BSP students, and BSLC members.
Open Registration begins March 28th at 8:00am, and will continue indefinitely until classes are filled.
With February quickly sliding by, it's time for an update! Our theme of the month is (what else?) LOVE, followed by the more general "feelings" after Valentine's Day. Parents can expect to get lots of songs about love stuck in your heads as kids continue to sing them after our party days. Our Bible theme for the month is Joy! How we can be joyful, how God gives us joy, and how we can help others be joyful are all discussions we'll be having around the classroom. Psalms 104:34 "The Lord is my joy."
In case you didn't catch it, our Parent/Teacher conferences have been moved up a couple of days. Rather that Thursday and Friday of that week, conferences will now be Monday, Feb. 29th and Tuesday, March 1st. Parents, you can sign up for EITHER DAY as is convenient for you. Please be aware the signup sheet is up across the hall from our door!
Welcome back to school, everyone! Ready, or not, 2016 is here!
Our January theme, Bears!, will be reflected in our projects and lessons all month. From pandas to grizzlies, black bears to polar bears, you can expect your children to come home with all sorts of interesting knowledge about these cuddly-looking, yet dangerous wild animals! Our bear studies will culminate in the ever-popular "Teddy Bear Days", when students can bring their favorite snuggle buddy to school to cuddle and show their friends.
Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart." Our Bible-teaching theme this month is Faith: what it means to have faith, when you can practice having faith, and how faith can help you every day.
No class on Monday, January 18th for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. January 28th and 29th (on your child's respective day) are our Teddy Bear Days. Don't forget your favorite bedtime buddy!
Can you believe it's December? I want to know where our snow is! Our theme for the month is..Christmas!! Bible time and theme teaching will all reflect this awesome time of the month of December. Ask your child what they've learned about the candy cane, the shape of the Christmas tree, and all about baby Jesus!
These studies will culminate in our Christmas parties during the last 45 min of class on Thursday, December 17th and Friday, December 18th. Don't forget to check the bulletin board for treat signups!
Brr! November has come in like a smack in the face! Please remember that due to our suddenly cold weather, children need to come to school with appropriate outside gear, as we do continue to go out for recess daily (provided conditions are safe). I'm talking warm coat every day, and scarf, hat, and mittens as needed.
With just three weeks ( well, two and a half by now!) of school before Thanksgiving Break, all classes will be studying the exciting theme of FOOD! Discussions of harvesting, nutritional values, favorites, and sharing will be common, month-long. This theme goes hand-in-hand with our Bible Time theme of sharing. 2 Corinthians 9:7 "God loves a cheerful giver."
A wonderful fit with our 'food' and 'sharing' themes, our food drive for the Boise Rescue Mission will continue through the end of the month! Due to student donations and a grant from the church for the more-needed items, we have filled that giant barrel outside our classroom TWICE! Our contact over at the Rescue Mission, Kelsey, has told us that our donations have helped enable the mission to serve over 1,100 meals DAILY here in Boise! That's amazing! Thank you all for your generous donations. Let's see if we can't thank the Lord for all that He has blessed us with by filling that barrel just one more time!
Remember: no class November 23-27 for Thanksgiving break!
As we welcome the fluctuating but ever-so-slightly cooler trend in weather, our October academic theme will be (yep, you guessed it!) Fall! Our lesson times will bring discussions of harvest time, the changes in nature, and the preparations of all creation for the cold months. Our Bible words for the month, "...God created the heavens and the earth." come from Genesis 1:1, and mirror our studies of weather, plants, and animals.
In terms of special days, October brings a lot!
Teacher Melissa will be out of class Friday, October 9th and Monday, October 12th for bereavement, but we'll be joined by a few kind parent volunteers. [Please keep in mind that times like this might come up throughout the year. If you're interested in having your name added to our 'emergency call' list, please let Teacher Chris know.]
Our Octoberfest parties will be the last 45 min of each class's respective classtime on Tuesday, October 27th and Wednesday, October 28th. Signups to bring edible treats and treats for the goody bags are posted outside the classroom. Parents are encouraged to attend, as the class performs 2-3 poems and songs at each of our parties! Children are welcome to wear costumes, but we ask that they arrive already dressed up, as with our limited classtime, we do not have time to help them change before the party.
Signups are now posted for Parent/Teacher conferences on Thursday, October 29th and Friday, October 30th! These conferences are intended to show you your child's progress throughout the year, as well as helping you understand what you might be able to work on with them at home in order to prepare for Kindergarten. Parents can sign up for any available time on either date.
Hello everyone!
First off, our sincere apologies for being MIA all summer: we've been having computer difficulties due to our computer running the extremely outdated XP. However, we are fixed and up and running!
Moving on: Welcome back to school! In our first month of school, we'll be focusing on the theme of friendship! After reviewing our school rules, we learn that taking care of your friends and being kind to them is the best way to stay friends. Our Bible words for the month, "Love one another" in John 13:35 reinforce this concept as we get back into seeing and caring for each other daily.
Book orders are due Wed, Sept. 9th.
September is a pretty straightforward month, and with Labor Day just past, we will have no other days off for the month. It is worthwhile to mention that on October 1st (Thursday) and 2nd (Friday) we will NOT have class for district-wide Teacher In-Service days.
After our parties in the park (reminders were sent home), school is officially out for the summer! Have a safe and fun summer. See you in the fall!
