WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE: READING IDENTITY IN SCIENCE FICTION
Do you love science fiction? Do you get excited when reading the latest Atwood novel, watching the new dystopian thriller movie, or playing the most innovative video games? Then you may be interested in presenting your ideas to your peers and community in a short format known as a pecha kucha (20 slides shown for 20 seconds each, totaling 6 minutes and 40 seconds)!
The Boise State Gender Studies Club is looking for individuals excited about science fiction to present in the second annual When Worlds Collide presentation series! Community members, students, staff, and faculty from all areas of interest are welcome to submit proposals on topics related to science fiction: its literature, literacy, applications, etc, especially as they relate to identity, community, justice, and society.
Previous presentation topics have ranged from the evolution of women’s roles in Star Trek to information on the latest science fiction novels. The possibilities for topics are limitless! You don’t have to be an “expert” on your topic. If you are interested and passionate, your energy will show. If you have any questions about topics, the event, or general information, don’t hesitate to shoot an email to the event coordinators.
Submissions accepted until 20 February at 5pm
