What an amazing school and staff here at Pierce Park! Thank you to Terri Lindemann and Sarah Dunn who organized a staff fundraiser on behalf of Team Saylor for the fight against Type 1 Diabetes for her final year at Pierce Park. We are beyond grateful for the love and support this school has shown her throughout the years. Every year our Pierce Park friends have shown up and supported her at the JDRF walk. We are sorry we cannot walk this year however the research still continues. We have personally benefited from the technological advancements stemming from this research. Thank you to Eric Ennis and Barb Friedt for your donations. We so appreciate it and are hopeful for a cure!

Hey Fellow Parents!
Outdoor Exchange is having a great kids fall/winter gear & clothing sale! Some jackets have seen some kiddo-love but great brands like Patagonia, Spyder, Obermeyer, Rossignol, Scott and others for $10-$50! Perfect for that second school winter set OR ski ski set.

You can also consign the jackets that your kids have outgrown and get cash or use that credit to get the next size up! Works great and gets you the brands that keep your little ones warm without paying full retail! Pass it along:)

Dear
Members of the Pierce Park Force:

A long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...an epic gathering was envisioned...

'Tis is a mere THREE days until the full force of the fourth is upon us! Time to check the power levels on your lightsabers, dust off your storm trooper masks, and teach those young Padawans how the real Jedi Masters do the electric slide.

The silent auction is shaping up with galactic excellence! Many thanks to the family and community support that has brought it to fruition.

Each day this week, new items will be displayed in the library. For those of you not able to make it to school, a few selected photos and descriptions will be sent directly to your inbox to whet your appetite for the goods and wares available for bid on Friday!
May the fourth be with you :)

Monday’s taster:
D&B
Park Playdate:
Dog toys, frisbee, t-shirt, ball cap, stadium blanket, Idaho-made sweet treats, and more!

Wake Up and Moxie:
Coffee, biscotti, travel mug, tumbler, mints,Tom Taylor’s infectious, acoustic music (performed by a Pierce Park parent!), and more!

Give a Wookie a Cookie: A dog’s dream basket...already winning
admirers…

T Minus Three Days Tuesday Taster:

“Kaixo!”
from Basque Country: Helix Merlot, Egregio extra virgin
olive oil from Spain, beautiful ceramic serving tray, cheese straws, focaccia crisps, Spanish olives and a cooking class for two at the Basque Market. T**a!

Birds of a Feather: Two family passes to World Center Birds of Prey, two decorative birds with eggs, one family dinner at Idaho Pizza Company.

Summer
Fun To-Do’s: Magnetic board with decorative magnets,
family pass to the Discovery Center, $20 gift certificate to Guido’s Pizza.

Hope to see you Friday,
Pierce Park PTO

Hello wonderful Pierce Park community! Is anyone available today (Tuesday, March 6th) to scan badges for Pacers? 11:30-12:45. Please reply back if you can do it!

Wagons Ho! 4th and 5th grade students got to experience life as pioneers this past Monday when Wagons Ho came to Pierce Park!

They made butter, cooked a Dutch oven meal, drilled holes in buttons, saw musket bullets be made, sawed logs, chopped wood, learned to brand wood, and much more!

Thank you for your donations throughout the year that helped bring this wonderful program to PP!

We had so much fun promoting healthy eating and physical activity at our Panther Pacers Kickoff Event last week! Our food group mascots had a ball helping with a Chopped-style smoothie contest and goofing around in a game of hungry hippo during the assembly. Afterward, the whole school got into the act with a 20 minute walk! Thank you to Idaho Dairy Council and Fuel Up to Play 60 for the grant that makes this program possible!

I need an extra volunteer to help scan badges for Pacers tomorrow (Tuesday) 9/26 from 11:30-12:30. If you are able to help, please text Pohley (208) 724-2815. Thank you!

Thanks to the generous support from Brandon Frank and Fleet Feet Sports in Meridian, who donated the shoes to our program, and who support our efforts in youth wellness! If you need new athletic shoes, Fleet Feet is the place to go! They have an amazing staff and super awesome shoes (and socks and clothing too!)!

2017 Girls on the Run Treasure Valley NEW Volunteer Application FALL 08/22/2017

2017 Girls on the Run Treasure Valley NEW Volunteer Application FALL

Hi everyone! Guess what?! Girls On The Run (GOTR) starts next week! There will be fliers coming home today hopefully!
We are still in need of a couple of "Practice Partners to just be available during practices to help out. Jamie Marie Ford and I will be leading the curriculum, so you would just be an extra person to be available to the girls. You don't have to be able to run, just positive reinforcement and listening, even handing out snacks would be a big help! We have to have 2 registered adults present at each meeting, so it would be awesome to have a couple of people willing to be at each practice just in case something happens and Jamie or I can't be there on a day for some reason. If anyone is willing to help out please register here, so the organization knows who is with the girls! Thanks so much! Also, it is time to register those girls! If you register by the 30th (our 1st day of practice) you will avoid the late fee! Tuition is based on need. Spread the word, please! :) https://www.raceplanner.com/volunteer/signup/fall-2017-volunteer

We had such a great time at Fuel Greatness at BSU! We learned all about the importance of eating healthy and being physically active for at least 60 minutes per day and got to meet Blitz, Seagals and a former Seahawk player! These students earned this trip because of their outstanding efforts in Panther Pacers! Way to go!

We are working to create a culture of health and wellness at Pierce Park! During March, National Nutrition Month, we promoted vegetable consumption through several different events including "Try-It Tuesdays". Two vegetables were featured every Tuesday, and students were encouraged to try them and vote for their favorite. The last matchup pitted the two favorites from previous weeks together - sweet peppers vs. peas. The peppers edged out the peas - 57 to 41! I encourage you to continue to create healthy choices at home - encourage your kids to eat a variety of colorful veggies every single day! Build on the ones they like and encourage them to be willing to try unfamiliar ones. The more we encourage and expose our kids to healthy foods, the more likely they will be to make healthy choices on their own. We are building the foundation for lifelong health in our kids right now! Park

Yes For Boise Schools

Hello Friends! Please get out to vote YES for Boise Schools on Tuesday! Invest in schools and in the future! The school buildings in the Boise School District need improvements to be brought up to current standards. The facilities in the district should reflect the quality education our children receive. 100% of the revenue from the bond will go towards improvements at all of the schools, with major improvements at 22 schools (including a total rebuild at Pierce Park!!) This is all possible without raising the current tax rate! Vote yes on Tuesday! https://yesforboiseschools.com

Get Involved

As someone who has canvassed and worked the phone banks for the Yes for Boise Schools campaign, I can honestly say it has been a positive experience. I know that calling strangers and visiting neighborhoods is out of most people’s comfort zones (mine too!), but please consider taking a few hours out of your day to help get this very important bond passed—I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Click this link to see the volunteer opportunities: https://yesforboiseschools.com/get-involved/ . If we don’t all pitch in to spread word and help the effort, this bond might not pass. And as you know, the passage of this bond is very important for our children’s future and for future generations. We need to fix our aging schools and rebuild the ones that need it. I feel that we have a very conscientious and practical school district that spends money wisely for the betterment of our children and our community. Please support this effort to pass this school bond on March 14th!
