Gem Prep: Meridian North taking an opportunity to learn from our military veterans.
1st Grade had the privilege of learning from Marine Sergeant Josh Sweeney yesterday. Josh has served in several areas of the world, including Afghanistan, where he lost his legs from a bomb. He is a Para Olympics Gold Medalist, and enjoys many adaptive sports. He taught our scholars that our military helps the world be as free as they can be in their own government systems.
Thank you for your service, and for coming for a visit, Sgt. Sweeney!

Professional development opportunity for Idaho educators! The Museum of Idaho and the Idaho National Laboratory are offering Bring Idaho Alive again this year; our department is covering the cost of credits and materials, so the course is offered at no cost to educators! Bring Idaho Alive is a course designed to teach educators about Idaho's natural and cultural history how they can use this information in their classrooms. Throughout the course, educators will spend 3-5 asynchronous hours per month with local natural and cultural history experts on “virtual field trips”, learning about topics ranging from weather in Idaho to plants, animals, geology, and people. Each participant will receive a kit of hands-on activities to complete with each “virtual field trip” which can then be reused over and over again as an in-class resource kit. The course will run from December through May; 2 CEUs are offered through Boise State University. Register here: https://museumofidaho.org/product/bring-idaho-alive-2023/
