Repost from

⁣💡September’s Campfire Jam Spotlight: Angie Marianthi

⁣Angie Marianthi is a musician, teacher, and creative entrepreneur.

⁣In 2015 she founded Boise Music Lessons, a boutique studio that teaches adults, teens, and tweens to play songs with family and friends. Through Boise Music Lessons, Angie uses music as a tool to build and strengthen communities, and works to dispel the myth that you have to be inherently “musical” in order to play an instrument.

⁣Combining her Bachelor of Arts in Music and Masters of Health Science in Health Promotion, Angie has created a unique course curriculum that allows musical enthusiasts to play together at any stage of the learning process.

⁣Her innovative teaching and business practices have been featured by Good Morning America, KTVB Channel 7, the Idaho Press Tribune, Boise State University, Music Studio Startup, and more.

⁣You don’t want to miss the opportunity to learn from her and gain her insight on music! 🎵

Have you ever had a music teacher tell you that you weren't good enough? We sure have, and often hear this same story in different ways from so many others.

⁣P.S. Do you feel comfortable sharing your story? We want to hear from you! Comment with musical misnomers you're unlearning, or shoot us a DM. 💛

🎤 𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀!

⁣After searching near and far for a contemporary voice teacher training that fits our belief that anyone can play music, we found the Neuro-Vocal Method. This technique allows singers to access their own natural and authentic sound, and find freedom in singing. We can't wait to share this groundbreaking approach with our musical community!

⁣🎶 If you're ready to learn to sing, snag your fall Lesson Membership now -- registration closes July 19th!

⁣Reposted from Meredith Colby Neuro-Vocal : "I'm beyond delighted to welcome Angie Marianthi into the Neuro-Vocal family of teachers! Angie is an accomplished musician, multi-instrumentalist, committed educator, business owner, and super-mom!

⁣Though she's never set out to teach voice prior to this year, she knew that she could empower her students to sing with joy & confidence if she had the right set of tools. And that's Angie Marianthi...an educator who's willing to leave her comfort zone. A teacher who loves sharing the power of music...and does so constantly. Congratulations, Angie! "

🗑️ 𝗗𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀! 🗑️

⁣That's right -- you CAN pick up an instrument without first learning to "read music" via a method book. Here's the deal...

⁣Years ago we started introducing popular songs for our studio to play together. As our song library grew, so did the enthusiasm of our students. Over time we realized sharing songs was more dynamic and motivating than doing the ol' "lather, rinse, repeat" approach to learning an instrument. At that point, we bid farewell to our trusty, tired method books and never looked back!

⁣Now we've taught hundreds of students to play through a unique, song-based curriculum, and can help you do the same! We break down your favorite tunes in a variety of genres, transcribing and arranging each song so it's playable on any instrument and by every level of player (yes, even absolute beginners!). Just this spring our studio has learned songs by Harry Styles, Gillian Welch, The Avett Brothers, Blind Melon, Alison Krauss, Vance Joy, P!nk, and The Beatles (of course).

⁣From strumming, to singing, to riffing, we'll guide you through the part of your choosing at your one-on-one lessons. Once you find your groove, we'll come together as a group around the campfire and make some musical magic. And nothing makes our teacher hearts swell with pride like seeing our studio grow into an empowered community of musicians!

⁣If you're ready to start your musical journey or find some inspiration through songs, reserve your Lesson Membership today (link in the comments below) for our fall season starting this August. Adults, teens, and tweens (ages 10+) are welcome to join! Spots are first-come, first-served and we only have space for 5 new players. 🎶 🎉 🎶

As musicians, we know that physical and emotional wellbeing is necessary to foster creativity and community. We also understand that musicians and artists don't always have insurance or access to healthcare. Fortunately, our neighbors Boise Acupuncture Cooperative, Inc. provide sliding-scale acupuncture treatments that reduce pain and inflammation, ease stress and anxiety, and so much more!

⁣Right now Boise Acupuncture Co-op needs our help as they move to their new location at the corner of Vista and Kootenai. By donating to BAC, you'll help to ease the financial impact of their upcoming move, and create a new welcoming space where people come as they are and feel empowered to heal side by side in community. As a thank you for your support, this week we're matching $150 in donations through Idaho Gives . Hit the link below to double your impact!

Why is Wordle so dang popular? Because it's a simple, shared, social experience!  ⁣⁣

⁣Yes, you *could* play other word games whenever you want, but will you? Probably not with the same dedication and enthusiasm you bring to your daily Wordle puzzle!⁣⁣

⁣The same idea applies to playing music! You *could* watch unlimited lessons on YouTube and practice an abundance of techniques every day, but will you? The options are simply overwhelming!⁣⁣

⁣In our studio we learn ONE song at a time, and we learn it together! Regardless of instrument, ability, or age, we teach all of our students to play music through a shared popular song.⁣⁣

⁣Just like Wordle, there are many different avenues to produce the same outcome, and the joy is in sharing the journey with your friends. This is why we tailor our musical instruction to each individual player, and incorporate group classes for a celebratory community experience!⁣⁣

⁣Are you ready for a simple, fun, and social musical outlet? Snag your spot in the Campfire Music Club starting February 27th, or join the wait-list for a Lesson Membership starting in August. We can't wait to share some music with you! 🥳 ⁣⁣

🔥 A new addition to the Community Classroom...

Photos from Boise Music Lessons's post 12/21/2021

What a difference a year makes!⁣⁣

tl;dr: We wouldn't have made it without you!

⁣⁣On this very day last December, we were awarded a grant that kick-started our idea to redesign our music lessons studio and build an outdoor classroom to safely host groups. Over the holidays we dove headfirst into researching possibilities and permits; by the end of the year we'd ordered the frame for the classroom and started renovating our unfinished garage to teach one-on-one lessons.

In January we bid farewell to our tiny lessons greenhouse and moved into our new open-air studio. ⁣⁣Throughout the spring we hosted group jams online and at local parks as we worked to coordinate construction on the outdoor classroom. Easement constraints, supply chain issues, and the contractor shortage made for quite the string of challenges, but we powered through with the help of our community. ⁣⁣

In April we launched a crowdfunding campaign to build our outdoor Community Classroom, and broke ground precisely two weeks later. It was quite the undertaking to remove a concrete patio, transplant a small orchard of fruit trees, level all the garden beds (sorry Marcus!), and dig out the "jamphitheater" for the campfire. Thanks to the amazing work of SplitPea Edible Landscaping, the backyard was back to looking green and inviting in no time.

⁣⁣At the end of May the crowdfunding campaign closed with an unbelievable $22k in community support. There are no words for how grateful we are to all who donated, shared, and trusted us to build a safe and vibrant musical space. We are also so thankful for the guidance of Crowdfund Better and Crowdfund Idaho for helping us through the process.⁣⁣

In June we poured the foundation and assembled the frame for the classroom (thanks to Wright Brother Construction!). In July we added two walls and space for storing firewood (thanks to DeQuaid construction!). In August we finally broke in the Community Classroom with an inaugural hootenanny, and we enjoyed making music in our outdoor oasis throughout the fall. Things finally came full circle this winter when we installed greenhouse walls and a wood stove for our campfire classes.

Looking back, so much transformation in exactly 365 days seems impossible, but here we are! And there is no doubt that we owe it to each and every one of you who supported us throughout this process. We promise to keep playing music and making you proud! 💚💚
