Big week- we passed off our eye tracking with a ball🎾🎾🎾!! For some kids - when they are reading a line in a book- they don’t even notice when their eye drops to another line - but their mind gets mixed up with the material and reading becomes incredibly stressful for them. It’s not that they don’t want to! Their eyes need to be trained to track! My daughter is reading better than she ever has thanks to exercises like this😍😍😍😍

Hi All!!!! We're closing down this Brain Works Idaho FB page and would LOVE to have you join us over KoolMinds West Idaho ! If you haven't yet follow us for great tips and tricks to get your child through their homework!

Lets start by re-introducing these two kids in the middle (not the ones getting carried away). The ones upfront are at the heart of KoolMinds in Idaho Twin Falls and Boise.

Eric has worked in counseling and evaluation of children with mental illness and learning struggles for 15 years. He has 6 years of experience as a clinical supervisor and 12 years of volunteer coaching at the local parks and recreation program to help children learn to thrive and be confident.

Amy has raised, taught, and taxied 5 children, some with identified learning struggles. She is an accomplished pianist and has taught piano lessons for over 10 years. Amy has served as president and advisor for multiple service organizations, including church and youth organizations. Not to mention the countless dozens of cookies sent to neighbors and others in need. Amy became an instructor for KoolMinds in 2018.

KoolMinds West Idaho is a great place to start - with these two at the heart of it all. Eric and Amy oversee the entire process. Helping your child overcome their learning difficulties.

If we were all pediatric occupational therapists it might be easier for us to make the correlation between kids and which senses they favor when they are learning – eyes, ears or muscle memory.

Kids that use their eyes more dominantly are more likely to gather information then move forward. They will be the ones who read the instructions first.

If the child is using their ears to gather the information they might be a great conversationalist.

Kids who favor physical activity are less likely to read the instructions and or listen to the details involved in the assignment before jumping into the activity at hand.

More than 80% of all information is directed to eyes or ears- that doesn’t leave a lot of learning room for youth who learn best through muscle memory.

KoolMinds takes a closer look at our kids and the way they engage in learning, specifically which of their senses they use the most. The idea is they will learn more quickly and they will enjoy the homework more. If there is a delay – we might use more physical activity to improve their overall learning experience because this type of learning is less utilized in the classroom setting.

Hey all! If you haven't yet! Follow us over at KoolMinds West Idaho we're going to be sharing tips and connecting you with communities that can help you navigate the tricky school years with your kiddies!!! Thank you so much for all of your support!

“Did you hear me?”

“Can you look at me when I’m talking?”

If your kid’s eyes and mind can’t focus long enough to gather the information presented then you get a lot of these questions. Sometimes when this is happening their brain is pushed to fill in the blanks.

This can be one reason a student repeatedly misreads words or misunderstands concepts--because they are missing vital parts of the information. Students with poor concentration are often labeled and they don’t have as much confidence as their classmates – which just doesn’t seem fair…

You may have noticed we have a different logo! We are so excited to now be a part of a multi-state franchise so we can expand our services to so many more children who need cognitive skills enhancement and help with their academics! Please follow us over at KoolMinds West Idaho!!!!!!!!! And watch for some of the new and exciting learning tips/skills we will be able to provide exclusively to our followers and their children on our new page... We can't thank you enough for joining us on this journey! Also check out our new website at

April is Autism Awareness Month-- so much is unknown, so many go undiagnosed. It doesn't have to be this way!

Today is ‪ ‬. At the age of 12 I was diagnosed with Asperger, a form of autism. At that time I had no idea what it meant. When I and my parents told people I was autistic, they always reacted with shock since I didn’t fit into the stereotype of autistic people.
Today, so many (especially girls) remain undiagnosed. The reasons for that are often lack of awareness, prejudices and the fact that many still see autism as a “disease” or something that has to hold you back. That more people are diagnosed with autism etc isn’t because there is an “inflation” in diagnoses but since awareness is increasing and many highly sensitive people experience stress related problems in modern society which gives them reason to suspect they’re on the spectrum.

Almost everywhere there are very limited resources to give autistic people the necessary support. Without these adjustments autism can turn into a disability. But under the right circumstances it can truly be a gift and turn into something you - and society - can benefit from. Sadly, today the level of awareness is so low. So many go undiagnosed and will therefore not receive the help they need and may go their whole life believing something is wrong with them.
So let’s all join in spreading awareness. It could literally save lives. Autism is not a disease. It’s not something you ”have”. It’s definitely not ”caused” by anything like vaccine or diet. It simply means that you are a bit different from everyone else.
And in a world where everyone strives to act, think and look the same - being different is truly something to be proud of.
Thats why I’m very proud to be autistic.

One of our amazing students loves KoolMinds so much that she decided to make a KoolMinds mascot for us!! Don't you just love her creativity😊
