I would know I was living my healthiest life by _________________.

Really reflect on this idea. What would you be doing? What would you be investing in? What would your days look like? How would life look 20 years from now, or 50 years from now?

Once you have a good picture of your healthiest life, it’s time to compare your life currently. Where are the gaps? What needs to be changed, removed, or improved?

For me, my healthiest life is one where:
🤩 I have a consistent good mood & high energy each day
🥗 I eat food that blesses my body & have treats occasionally
🏋️‍♂️ I exercise in some way every single day
👂 I am listening to my body to know what exactly it needs
🚫 I don’t rely on daily medication to keep me healthy
🌱 If I am sick or don’t feel well, I seek the root cause instead of quick fixes
🙅‍♀️ I set solid boundaries & know when to say “no”
🤓 I am always learning something new
👏 I positively impact people with my work & always ask “how can I help?”
👦 I set a good example for my kids
❤️ I’m always looking how I can add value in all of my relationships
👵🏼 When I’m 85, I’m still just as active, spry, & independent as I am right now!

This isn’t an exhaustive list, and it isn’t to say that nothing bad will ever happen or no hardships will never come. But so long as I have my healthy habits in place, I will be able to maneuver difficult times as my healthiest self possible (and hopefully recover from them quicker!).

This is the perspective I always aim to live my life, and I encourage you to do the same. However — your list may not look the same as mine!! Thats why I encourage you to take some time this weekend to journal this out and truly reflect on what your healthiest life looks like, and what that means to you.

Do you read food labels before you purchase something?

Because if you don’t, it’s something I highly recommend starting!

Despite what anti-diet culture would want you to think, reading food labels isn’t just for those counting calories. More often the ingredients list is my biggest priority because it’s SO important to know exactly what you’re putting into your body!

The saying “you are what you eat” is 100% true — your cells are literally created and maintained from everything you eat each day. And I don’t know about you, but I’d rather have my cells be made from REAL food ingredients instead of chemicals that are found in household cleaners or gardening products 🤷‍♀️🙌

This is why I’ve started my “bad/better/best” series on my stories each week! I want to educate on what to look out for and what to avoid. Stay tuned to that and my highlights for more information!

You know those uncomfortable symptoms you’ve been feeling?

Ones like:

Bloating
Brain fog
Headaches
Fatigue
Constipation
Diarrhea
Stomach cramps
PMS
Anxiety
Depression
Joint/muscle aches
Back pain
Insomnia
Etc.
Etc.

Those are all ways your body is trying to talk to you. They are alerting you to something that you need, or that you don’t need. They are a form of communication about an imbalance that’s happening inside or that SOMETHING ISN’T WORKING.

Instead of masking them with temporary medication or wishing them away — what if you paused to ask yourself “where is this coming from?” or “why is this happening?”

I know personally that my struggle with debilitating anxiety stemmed from the foods I was eating. My body was trying to let me know that something isn’t right. Now I’m tackling my 15 year struggle with intense bloating because I know that’s yet another form of communication that something needs improvement in my body.

Sure, losing weight is great. But I’m more about helping you improve your overall health because if you don’t FEEL good in your skin every day… what’s the point of even having a nice body?!

You weren’t created to be sick. Life wasn’t meant to be lived with a laundry list of symptoms every day. You have so much more potential than that.

Stop over-complicating healthy eating!!

I promise you there are quick, easy, and convenient ways to have nutritious meals available to you for breakfast, lunch, & dinner. You don’t need to be spending two hours on dinner each night or making complicated recipes to ensure your meal is healthy.

The meal pictured here is
☑️clean
☑️from the earth
☑️a great source of protein, iron, & vitamin B (steak)
☑️a great source of fiber, folate, & vitamin A (asparagus)
☑️ healthy fats (avocado oil)

& it look about 20 minutes in total to make ‼️(okay… maybe 30 if you include the time it took for the grill & oven to heat up).

🔥 Hot tip? As a time saver for the next day’s meals, you can just cook double of what you’re already cooking to have leftovers for lunch & dinner. Super convenient & easy!

There is a time & place for the even greater convenience of eating out — but let’s make those times a special occasion 🙌 start prioritizing making & eating nutritious food at home. It’s a total game changer when it comes to your health.

Did you know that gratitude can make you physically healthier?

It also increases your psychological strength by reducing the frequency of low vibration emotions & improving your ability to manage stress.

It ALSO improves your relationship to others, your work ethic, your sleep, and overall happiness.

I could go on with the endless benefits of gratitude in your life… so instead I want to ask — are you practicing gratitude daily?

No matter how tough your current circumstances may be, there is always ALWAYS something to be grateful for.

The fact that you woke up today, you have a beating heart and air in your lungs means you have another opportunity to grow today. What a beautiful gift.

I challenge you this week to focus a little extra on how you can be more grateful. Take in your surroundings, slow down, and thank everything and everyone around you. You have nothing but positive benefits to gain 💫

Proper health starts in infancy. Shoot, research shows now that it starts in utero! The things you expose your children to impact how their health will be for their entire life. Meaning the issues you struggle with now are likely due to years & years of poor health habits growing up. The good news is you can always improve, but we also should do our best to give our kids more optimal wellness.

As a personal example, I was born vaginally but only was breastfed for a short time. Then I had chronic ear infections & was exposed to SO many antibiotics as a toddler. Skip ahead to elementary years where I had strep throat ALL the time, meaning even more antibiotics 😑 combined with early introduction to having a sweet tooth, a house filled with packaged foods & Tylenol/Advil for pain remedies, & disordered eating as a teenager… my health now is not optimal. Recovering & always improving, but definitely still on the mend.

Compared to my kiddos lives (so far) — both born vaginally & breastfed for almost a year. Both never been on antibiotics. I rarely, if ever, give any form of pain reliever (I actually don’t even have any in my home) & I aim to use natural remedies like essential oils, homeopathy & vitamins/supplements as much as possible. Gavin prefers water, hates soda, & barely ever has juice. I try to make sure we have mostly organic options & teach the importance of eating veggies, fruits, & protein & the positive impacts it has on our health. My kids are never sick, never struggling. For that I am SO grateful! But I can’t help but think it’s because of how much importance I place on creating health in their lives where I can.

I know I am so privileged to have the knowledge & ability to give my kids the gift of optimal health. I will absolutely never take that for granted. But as health is one of my highest core values, it’s something I will always aim for them. You should, too.

Proper health is a gift, & it starts young. If you have kids or plan to, please do your part in giving them optimal health in every way. Our world needs a generation of more all around healthy humans ❤️
