Who ever is doing the audio on tonight's girls varsity basketball ball game should really go back and listen to their work on the NFHS network. Pretty bad, having to watch on mute the distortion is so harsh.

Congratulations to the Class of 2020! Since my daughter, Camille Clark, started kindergarten, I have been a substitute teacher. In the last four years, I subbed mostly at Centennial High School. I was able to meet many of you and share in your joys and stresses. I also got to meet many of the wonderful teachers at CHS. I'm grateful to Mrs. Burt's students for allowing me into their Stagecraft and Musical Theater classes when she was on maternity leave. The Stagecraft classes made some fun puppets. Now that my daughter has graduated from high school, I have been hired as the Training Coordinator at the Idaho Rural Water Association. I will not be returning as a substitute teacher. Thanks for the good memories and I'll be cheering you on from afar.

Trevor Costello, a 2020 Centennial High School graduate, received a $500 scholarship from the Idaho Irrigation Equipment Association to pursue his degree in Horticulture at the College of Western Idaho. Costello’s scholarship was donated by G&S Sales, Inc. Pipeco - Boise sponsored Costello.

Centennial Senior Aviana Smith won the International Flipper Pinball Association Idaho State Championship Saturday night. She will compete for the North American title in Denver in March. It’s her second state title.

I’m the parent of a Boise Brave who attended last night’s JV basketball game. I just happened to capture Centennial’s amazing, 3 point buzzer shot and thought I’d share it here in case this young lady’s family wasn’t present to see it or she wanted to see it for herself. Congratulations on your win. It sure was a nail biter! 😊

I'm so disappointed that the class of 2019 did not receive their yearbooks before their senior picnic. This is a huge milestone for these young adults and missing out on teacher comments/ signatures and notes from friends is truly unacceptable. Centennial really dropped the ball for this class.

Note to My Host Family: I am a very family-oriented and humorous person and I like to do sports like soccer, tennis and skiing. My hobbies are also cooking, baking and meetig friends. My family consists of me and my parents and also my brother, but he has already moved out. I love spending time with my grandpa as well. In my future career I would like to to do somtehing with people. I really like meeting new people and to make new experiences. Centennial High School has named Allison O'Harra as the next head volleyball coach for the Patriots. Coach O'Harra is an alumnus of CHS and brings a wealth of experience from her playing days at Pepperdine (2017-2021), and Boise State (2021-2022). She spent last season as the varsity assistant coach at Centennial, helping guide the Pats to a 4th place finish in the SIC. Allison says she is passionate about the opportunity to step into the lead role.

“After attending and graduating from Centennial High School and going on to play at the D1 level, I am ecstatic to bring my experience, knowledge, and passion for volleyball to impact the community that helped build the person I am today. I am looking forward to build upon the volleyball program by developing and cultivating a culture that produces high level athletes who represent what it means to be a Centennial Patriot.”

Pending West Ada School Board approval, Keelan McCaffrey will become the next head football coach at Centennial High School. Coach McCaffrey has served as the head coach at Minico High School since 2018 where he compiled a career record of 38-13, won two conference championships in 2021 & 2022, and was selected as the Great Basin Coach of the Year in 2019, 2020, 2021 & 2022. Coach McCaffrey said he is looking forward to the opportunity.

“Excited for the opportunity to be a Patriot. I can’t wait to get around the kids, the staff, and the administration. Centennial has great tradition, and I am excited to be a part of the history. This past Friday and Saturday the Centennial Speech and Debate team competed at the 2023 "Grizzly Growl Invitational" held at Rocky Mountain High school. This was the LARGEST Speech and Debate tournament held since COVID hit in 2020. On Friday the Speech events were held at the Patriots were represented by 4 competitors. Junior Abbey Takeuchi led the way with a 4th place finish in "Original Oratory" out of 33 competitors! Sophomore Ella Musteti-Oprea was right behind her with a 7th place finish in "Retold Story" out of 27 competitors!

The debates were held on Saturday and the Patriots fielded 4 "Public Forum" debate entries in a pool with 60 entries. The Sophomore team of Ella Musteti-Oprea and Tadman Nettles led the way and finished prelims with a perfect 4-0 record! Ella and Tadman were the 3rd seed (out of 60 teams) heading into quarter-finals where they lost a close debate and ended the tournament as quarter-finalists. The Senior/Sophomore team of Camdyn Cosper and Joe Helsley finished the day with a 3-1 record and as the #13 seed. Hena Lee, Aathira Suresh, Avery Gunstream, and Heath Iverson all ended the tournament 2-2, bringing Centennial's squad record to 11-5 on the day! Up next the Patriots head to Ridgevue High School for the "Warhawk Invitational" on February 3rd-4th!

Congratulations to our Speech and Debate team.
This past Saturday January 14th the Centennial Speech and Debate team competed at the inaugural Bishop Kelly "Speech Joust" invitational. The Patriots were represented by 3 competitors entered in 6 events. Junior Abbey Takeuchi led the way with a 2nd place finish in Original Oratory out of 11 competitors! Come see Image Factory’s fall production of Daisy Pulls It Off! This 1920s romp centers around plucky Daisy Meredith, a new scholarship student who is forced to face and overcome snobbish prejudice and pranks from wealthier girls at the exclusive Grangewood School for Young Ladies. Along the way she and her best friend, Trixie Martin, search for missing treasure, overcome false accusations and discover the mystery of the school and Daisy’s long-lost father. Daisy Pulls It Off runs October 26-29 at 7pm in the Little Theater with an additional matinee at 1pm on October 29. $7.00 students/seniors, $10.00 adults.
