Idaho News 6 covered our story on how the Boise State’s Institute for Pervasive Cybersecurity plans to help protect rural communities within the state of Idaho.
Thanks to an economic development grant from the Idaho National Lab (INL), our Institute will be developing new resources to defend Idaho’s rural areas from cyber attackers. The grant also gives Boise State students real-world experience in the environments they may be working in as cybersecurity professionals by pairing them with an experienced mentor to visit these rural communities.
Cyber attacks have become gradually more common as we transition to a digital society. Leaving rural areas being more vulnerable to these attacks. "Part of the challenge they have is they have this data and this infrastructure but being able to engage and work with cyber experts or a career professional can often be really difficult and economically challenging," explained Edward Vasko, Director for the Institute of Pervasive Cybersecurity at Boise State University.
