For the Love of Sondheim! A Fundraiser

Sondheim the great American composer and lyricist died in 2021 he was credited with reinventing the modern American musical. This musical review will cover a wide range of his work. Some of his work includes; West Side Story, Gypsy, Funny Thing Happened on the way to the Forum, Follies, Company, Sweeny Todd, and Into the Woods.

Featuring some of youngstown's finest performers with special guests, MaryJo Maluso and Rick Blackson, James McClellan, Amanda Beagle-Bossio, Leah Ifft, Daniel Gordiejew, Brendan Byers, with Natalie Kovacs in from NYC among others.

The event will start at 3:00 this Sunday April 24,2022
at will be held at Trinity Fellowship Church 4749 South Ave. in Boardman

Tickets are available at the door and are 20.00 for Adults and 10.00 for high school age and below.
Seats except for a group Youngstown Vocations Support Society that has prepaid and is fundraising for its cause , are all first come first serve and you pay at the door.

Please call and leave a message on the Oakland phone with your last name and number in your party at 330-406-0606. So that we may have enough cake ordered to be served at a reception after the event.
The funds raised will support the Oaklands Kids First Theatre Initiative and its Au-Stars Program. The Au-Stars program works with youth on the Autism Spectrum with some wonderful outcomes.

The is Scott, Donnas son.

I wanted to update Mom’s friends and family about the surgery she had. For those who don’t know she had a thyroidectomy. They were looking to remove a mass that was on her thyroid And check to see if it was cancerous as well. The good news is they didn’t find any cancer on the sample and they only had to remove half of her thyroid. On the other hand she is still at the hospital because her blood pressure is extremely low not to mention some kidney failure and her glucose level was super high. Her breathing was out of whack , she was taking in oxygen with no way to expel the CO2. This is not a good thing when this happens. This happens when you have anesthesia and from some of the meds from surgeries. For the average person with medium to know Health problems this would be OK but as everyone knows she’s had several different medical issues which are making Recovery a hindrance. So right now they’re working to get her levels where they need to be she has basically been sleeping since the surgery only waking up for a couple seconds to answer questions And responding to pain. At this point i’m asking those who trust in God to pray for my mother. She’s a very strong woman I am being as optimistic as possible that she will pull through this. My mom is very lucky to have so many friends and awesome family. I believe in the power of prayer . I believe in Mom’s awesome friends and family. I love you all and I’ll keep you updated. Was just at the church, the lot is still needing plowed. The company that plows the lot got stuck in the lot as well we don’t wanna anyone to get stuck coming to the final auditions and callbacks for Annie Jr. we have moved them to Monday At 6:30 any questions let us know!

Merry Christmas! Back by popular demand! Our kids that performed at the Youngstown tree lighting ceremony, will present the Oakland Kids Christmas Bash Friday and Saturday, December 17 and 18th! Tickets are $10 for adults $5 dollars for kids, shows start at 7 PM both nights! All seats are first come first served! The Oakland Board is proud to announce, following the show on the 18th we will be celebrating Brendan Byers birthday! There will be food, cake, and Christmas cookies! The audience and Brendan‘s friends are invited to attend! Brendan said he would rather celebrate his birthday with the kids first kids and their families, and theatre friends more then anyone! All of my adult theater friends are welcome please come and celebrate! No reservations are needed, celebrate Christmas with us! If you can’t come to the show, come after and wish Brendan a happy one!

Ok rehearsals for the tree lighting downtown is M,T,W,Th 5-7 and the presentation at the tree lighting Ceremony is 7-8! You need to make as many rehearsals as you can. If you can’t come as early I’ll stay and work with you one on one. Ms Donna is coming this week as well! If you didn’t make it to Sunday afternoon you still can be in it!

Hello friends, I really need your help! We need one of the leads for the brand new area premier of Disneys Descedants. This new show is based on the series, running on the Disney Channel. Only once before in the 6 years we have been doing youth theatre have we had to reach out to cast a specific role. I would appreciate everyone putting on there thinking caps and reaching out to anyone, or anywhere for this part. Easy rehearsal process. The part we have not been able to cast from our auditioners is the role of Ben, this is a really great role, the son of Prince Charming and Belle, must be able to sing well! tenor rock style/ boyband would be best. The character needs to be 21 and under. Show opens August 20 runs two weekends, our kids have really been looking forward to this production, and I don’t want to have to cancel it because of a casting issue. Due to basement water damage and staff illness, we are cancelling our event at the Arts Festival this year, we will not be performing today either. Sorry for any disappointment, or inconvenience we it has caused. We hope that your repairs can be done quickly. Rehearsal for Disney’s descendants, will begin Monday at 6:30 PM.

Good Morning to all that were going to perform today. although there may be an opening when we have no rain during our performance scheduled for today, there are people that have had water damage to their homes. The fact that it is still supposed to rain off and on today, we have made the decision not to open our tent or perform today, please spread the word. We are planning to tomorrow though as scheduled, we ask that you be at the tent no later then 9:45 on Sunday. Call or text me with any questions.

Wow, what a great two days of Summer Camp, and what fabulous Auditions everyone was special, we haven’t cast anyone yet it’s going to be the hardest for us because everyone was so great❤️ I have two more auditioners tomorrow we still need a few boys and we need a high school aged boy who can sing and moves well!
