Meet the Cast of DRAGONS LOVE TACOS: Jared Mongeau plays Man in Suit!

Jared (he/him/his) is extra-terrestrially excited to be making his Maddy's Theatre debut in his first production with the Children's Theatre of Maine as a "grown-up!" His first appearance with CTM was as Paul in Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (2002) at the age of 9, followed by originating the role of Danny in Lion Hunting on Munjoy Hill (2003), where he got to pretend to hang from the top of the Portland Observatory. Since then, he has traveled around the world, studying and performing many different types of theatre in all sorts of different places. As a teenager, he apprenticed local clown and vaudevillian Michael Trautman and was a trouper with Circus Smirkus before joining the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus' Clown Alley. He went to Dell'Arte International School of Physical Theatre in California, where he learned how to work in an ensemble and create many different types of plays. One of his favorite things ever was when he traveled to Bali, Indonesia, to study traditional mask carving and performance. Some of his original plays include Aardvark Boat Tours, which premiered at the PortFringe - Maine's Fringe Festival, and This is Just Intermission, presented by Mad Horse Theatre Company. His MFA thesis, In the Trenches, appeared on the main stage of the Edmonton Fringe Theatre, the largest theatre festival in North America. Just like his character in Dragons Love Tacos, he wholeheartedly believes that "with a little drive and determination, amazing things can happen!"

DRAGONS LOVE TACOS runs April 15 - May 15 in Maddy’s Theatre and tickets are already going fast! Make your reservations today: kitetails.org/dragons-love-tacos

Tolling The Bell
HOLLOW PALM, a kaleidoscope of new physical theatre created by the students of Dell'Arte International's Professional Training Program. Inspired by the play “Good Person of Szechwan” by Bertolt Brecht and an intensive study of contemporary Japanese performance art, Butoh, this performance piece is an expressive event designed to provoke feelings and thoughts about the social forces and conventions which constrain us all in modern life.

HOLLOW PALM will run in the Carlo Theatre in Blue Lake, March 18-19 https://dellarte.com/product/hollow-palm/
#tbt Obviously the climate crisis isn't new. Neither is theatre's response to it, as proven by this remarkable, in-depth 1992 report by Lynn Jacobson on the eco-theatre efforts of Merrimack Repertory Theatre, Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans, and Dell'Arte International

The PTP begins with foundational training in physical awareness, play, movement, a variety of global dance forms, and the FM Alexander Technique. The program continues with an in-depth study of Mask, Commedia Dell’Arte, Heightened Acting and Clown. The training incorporates the exploration of theatre dynamics, character and relationship, and the actor and the space, with ongoing research into the collaborative process of making theatre through weekly assignments presented in Performance Lab.

Dell'Arte's PTP also develops the students’ capacity to work in Community-Based Arts, developing relationships with various communities in our area throughout the year which culminates in the Rural Residency creation block at the end of the program. DAI’s commitment to diverse, equitable and inclusive theatre is reflected in the content of the training which includes classes and colloquiums in cross cultural competency and anti-racism.
