Hi, I have John I. Earnest's 1989 class ring. My family found it at the Mt. Carmel Town Park. It was found years ago and we just found it again after going though some boxes.

Does anyone here know how I might return it?
MEETING NOTICE
The Columbia-Montour Area Vocational-Technical School Joint Operating Committee has scheduled a meeting for July 20, 2021 at 6:30pm. The meeting will be held in the Training Center located at 5050 Sweppenheiser Drive, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.

What group goes to school tomorrow?
This is a letter written by a 2019 CMAVTS graduate, after completing Keystone Boy State.

Dear Legionnaires,

The American Legion, by far, exceeds the standards of any other service organization. You brave men and women, you heros, took it upon yourselves to risk your own life, give up your own luxuries and simple freedoms, to be part of the worlds greatest fighting force. You all honorably gave your service to your country so that others wouldn’t have to. Even when your own country didn’t agree with you, resisted you, and fought with you, you followed orders and protected our American ideals.

No one could ever ask more of you men and women who stand aside from the average american, yet you decided to continue your service to your community and your country. You decided to dedicate your well earned time at home, to the people around you. You not only ensure that veterans receive the benefits and support they deserve, but you also aspire to instil in us, the youth of america, the ideals necessary to preserve democracy and our way of life.

I’ve spent the greater part of my life surrounded by veterans and legionnaires. The SAL had a great role in my upbringing, shaping me into who I’ve become today. The american legion family as a whole, Auxiliary, SAL, and Post alike set examples for me to follow. Because of them I have discovered my integrity, patriotism, and desire to serve. I owe so much to this organization, well before I even express gratitude for my experiences this week. There is no one I respect more than a veteran.

I’m confident to speak on behalf of the state of keystone when I say that this week is a gift we will continue to appreciate in the future to come. We all came here with the characteristics necessary to become great leaders, however we have you to thank for pushing us to discover that character, and encouraging us to use our skills and experiences to work as a collective. You pulled the leader out of every individual here. You showed us what it means to be part of something greater than ourselves. You showed us what it means to be selfless in service to a community. You’ve given us an experience unlike any other. You’ve truly given us a week that will shape a lifetime.

We can thank the american legion for the creation of Keystone boys state, but we must also recognize how you’ve maintained and improved it so that we can experience it, so many years later. This is an opportunity that should be available throughout the years ahead of us, for future generations to continue to learn and understand what it means to hold character. Now we must take on the responsibility in the future to keep this opportunity available, advertise it, and encourage upcoming generations to take it up.

Thank you. Thank you for the opportunity. We can’t depart without expressing the gratitude we feel for your guidance and teachings. you ‘ve given us standards and examples to live by and you gave us advice to use in whatever endeavors we pursue in our futures. Thank you for being the greatest example of service, character, and integrity the youth of this country will ever experience. Thank you for making us who we have become on this graduation day. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for making us Keystone Boys State.

Don’t forget…Tuesday, October 4 at 6:30 pm for this special JOC meeting. The fate of the school’s renovation project is at stake.

IMPORTANT!! There will be a special JOC meeting on October 4 at 6:30 PM to vote on a construction manager for the upcoming renovation project. This motion was tabled at the last JOC meeting because some school directors did not have all the information needed to cast a vote on this. If this vote does not go through at this meeting, the renovation project will be delayed, yet again! And there may be more cuts to the project, which will be to the benefit of the sending school districts, especially to those that don't want the Vo-Tech school to expand their programs!

WE CAN'T WAIT ANY LONGER!! The full-time comprehensive model has proven successful at CMAVTS for the past 54 years, and we need to remind the school board members, superintendents, and other powers at be about that. If you are able to, please attend this meeting and show your support for Vo-Tech. Tell them to keep the renovation plan going so the school and its programs can be updated to meet the expectations of our local businesses and industries and provide modernized training for students to meet current workforce standards. If you have been in the building in recent years, it still resembles the original structure from its opening in 1969 in so many ways. Vo-Tech students deserve better than that! Hope to see you there!

A reminder that tomorrow is Homecoming at Vo-Tech. The football game will start at 1:00 pm, and the introduction of the homecoming court and king/queen crowning will occur at halftime. All alumni can attend the game for free when you stop at the Alumni tent that is adjacent to the ticket booth. A pop-up school store will also be held near the football field during the game so that you may purchase the latest Vo-Tech attire. Hope to see you there!

A whole-hearted "thank you" to all who sponsored and/or attended our annual golf tournament challenge this past Sunday. And thank you BIDA - Berwick Industrial Development Association as well for the continuous work you do to bring industries to our community! We need more businesses and jobs in the area that CMAVTS serves, which will bring more families and more students to attend Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech!

BIDA - Berwick Industrial Development Association was more than happy to sponsor a hole at the Columbia Montour Area Votech School's Alumni Association Golf Tournament recently! ⛳️

B.I.D.A. is grateful for the long-established relationship we have with Columbia Montour Vo-Tech and their Alumni Association. 💛💚

We will continue to work with their school to strengthen the relationship between educators/students, and the business and industry sectors.
