Diversity Theatre

Diversity Theatre is sponsored by the Community and Family Resources Department of the City of Bloomington. Diversity Theater was founded in 1984 as a special program of the Bloomington Parks and Recreation department.

The goal was to use the medium of theatre to educate about disability issues. The original name was HIT, or Handicapped Improvisational Theatre. In 1987, the company's mission was expanded to include other social and minority issues and the company's name was changed to Diversity Theatre.

MOSAIC 2013: Celebrate Life

[04/14/13]   I just wanted to thank you all for your help in making today's event successful! It was truly an educational program that no academic program can ever teach. All three segments of the program--documentary, interactive theatre workshop, and panel discussion--were immensely insightful. These were stories of real people, and they shared them with us so others could save their loved ones. Their generosity was very moving.
A special thanks to volunteers for showing up on time and taking responsibility of all the work behind the scenes that were crucial in making the event successful. A BIG thank you to Audrey for going the extra mile and baking a variety of cookies for us (apart from her hard work on the committee). All the committee members and partners/sponsors, a BIG thank you. We hope to continue working with you in the future.
