Pathways Academy

We just realized that this Saturday is Hokes Bluff's City Fest. Their festival is huge and most importantly free, so we are going to reschedule our Fall Fest for another day, since it was to be a fundraiser for us.
We apologize for the reschedule, but want to encourage you to go check out the Hokes Bluff festival because it sounds like awesome fun for the whole family!!
We will post details of the rescheduled event in the coming week.
Our 4H chapter is now back at Pathways and under the leadership of Cheryl Griffin, one of our Pathways moms. Cheryl is super excited to lead 4H and wants to make sure all of our students know they are invited to attend and participate in our club.
The first meeting will be in October, and we are trying to decide if 10am or 2pm is better for our families.
If, and only if, you are going to participate in 4H please let us know your preference of either 10am or 2pm.
We will post the date and meeting time next Thursday.
We are going to reschedule this event. Details are in the post above. September xxth from xx-xpm is our annual Fall Fest Fundraiser. We will have games, 2 bouncy houses, candy, prizes, and plenty of food available.
Fall Fest is held in the grassy area out front of the Pathways building in Southside. (1766 Hwy 77, 35907)
Our Pathfinders club for children in K-3rd grade will start back up tomorrow, (Friday 9/9/2022), at the Resource Center in Southside. The club will begin at 1pm and last about an hour. There are no fees to be a part of this club. They meet on the 2nd Friday of each month at 1pm. You must be a member of Pathways or Stepping Stones to be in Pathfinders.
If you cannot come this month then you are welcome to come next month!
Our phone lines were out temporarily this morning, but they are now up and running again. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Pathways Academy would like to congratulate Tori Powell on winning "Free Tuition" by entering our building fund donation drawing.

If you would like to enter for next year's drawing, please watch for the tab on 2023-24 Re-enrollment paperwork beginning in May.

Although the drawing has passed, You can still donate to our building fund either by using your cheddar up link, through paypal, [email protected] or you may drop off a donation at the office.

Reminder: our office will be closed tomorrow for our Kickoff at Noccalula Falls Kiwanis Pavilion, 10 - 1.

Also, tomorrow is the last day to re-enroll before you are charged a late fee. If you have any questions or issues, please let me (Darlene) know.

New families can enroll any time during the year with no late fee's.
Here is the link to our Senior Beta Facebook group. Anyone is invited to join the group.
Hello Everyone! We are in search for a Pathfinders Club leader. The group is for ages k-3 grade and they meet once a month. This is a club that focuses on service projects within our county. Last year they completed a rock garden, done projects for Community Thanksgiving and The Humane Society as well as other projects that helped serve the community. If you are interested, please contact me (Darlene) by email [email protected]. Thank you!
Pathways 2022-2023 kickoff is Thursday August 18th from 10am-1pm at the Noccalula Falls Pavilion. We have a lot of fun things being offered this year including, special homeschool days at local businesses, field trips, co-op classes, extracurricular activities and clubs, etc.
Due to kick off our office will be closed the entirety of the day. We will, however, be accepting payments, applications and other paperwork at the door of kickoff.

The first meeting will be on September 9th at 2:30pm. Anyone interested in joining may attend the meeting to see if it is a fit for them.
Our Betas have been working this summer and still have projects we are working on before the first meeting. You are welcome to come get involved.
Our high school meeting is this Thursday (28th) at the Pathways building in Southside. It will begin at 5pm and should last an hour or less. This high school meeting is not a requirement, it is just informational. This is not the meeting for graduates nor dual enrollment. However, I will be happy to answer questions concerning both.
This meeting will cover teaching high school through Pathways. I will answer any general questions that anyone has outside of what Pathways requires, but it will be tailored to our requirements and the services we provide.
There will be another meeting for families considering homeschooling in general and needing more info. I will post that separately to keep from confusing anyone.
Our early bird discount ends July 31st. If you have not re-enrolled and would like to do so, please visit our website. You can re-enroll through Cheddar Up and pay online as well. If you prefer to pay in the office and save the fees you can still enroll on Cheddar Up and come into the office to pay this Thursday.
In order to receive the discount you must pay by July 31st, not just enroll.
I will still be at Pathways tonight for the Considering Homeschool meeting but there is a second meeting date for those of you who would prefer not to brave the weather tonight. The other date is Tuesday August 2 at 5pm at Pathways in Southside.

This is an information-only page. You can visit anytime and remain up to date with current info rega All faiths accepted.

New policy for this year for all of our families: we have updated our grading scale conversion. We feel it will benefit our students.
For our High School students: we will be sending out weighted and unweighted transcripts based on the school's policy where they are being sent. I have verified already that JSU and Auburn accept weighted transcripts.
We think both of these changes will benefit our families greatly.
These are two requests that we have had repeatedly. We are happy to be able to accommodate.

I so hope that families in your area who need this support will find our Rise to the Challenge Conference of great benefit. Please contact me as to how we might be able to partner with you to share information about other events and activities.

Congratulations to Alana Saavaedra Brothers for her win at the 2023 National Beta Convention in Louisville, Kentucky! She won in Fiber Arts Division 2. This is not the first time Alana has won for our Sr Beta chapter, but sadly it will be the last, as she graduated this year.
Congratulations again Alana!! We are so proud to have you as a Pathways Alumni and we cannot wait to see all of the wonderful things you do in the future!

Congratulations to Ms. Alana New! Your Pathways Family is so proud of you! We would also like to take this time to announce that Ms. Alana will be Pathways Academy new 4-H leader along with her sister Marissa Fleming as the sponsor beginning in September.
Again, Congratulations, Way to go!

Happy Friday y’all! Today we celebrate the outstanding 4-H career of Etowah County 4-Her Macee New, Alabama 4-H Foundation Scholarship recipient. Macee plans to attend Gadsden State Community College and pursue a career in Nursing. Macee says, “Through 4-H I have met so many friends that will stick with me for a lifetime. I have learned the importance of public speaking and the impact your words can have on people. I have learned to be a leader. I have learned when to lead and when to follow because we need both leaders and followers in our world today.” – Let your light shine for others Macee!

Thank you to all who have served and continue to serve for our freedom. Our prayers are with you and your families.

2023 Graduation Ceremony. Thanks to Janet Boykin for sharing this with us!

Please remember as you are adding your final grades to Homeschool Reporting to use the Add button and NOT "edit". Remember, if you are adding something use the + tab if you are changing something and no longer want to see what you are seeing, use "edit".
If you want to watch a video concerning this go to the Pathways Encourager page. You will have to be a current family of Pathways to visit that page.

We are starting a co-op for the upcoming school year. It will be very small starting out. We are looking for someone who would like to head up the co-op. Kathy and Darlene will work alongside the director, but we need someone to take the lead with it. If you are interested, please send an email to [email protected] with the subject "co-op".
If you are interested in teaching, or helping in any way, please let us know. Classes will be taught at the Resource Center in Southside.
Classes will be announced later this summer.
There will not be any high school courses this first year unless the Director is able to work out the scheduling. Right now, we will have elementary and a few middle school classes.
edited to add:
We will not have any information to share until we have a Director to help make the choices that are best for them. Right now we are thinking that Tuesdays will be the best day for classes based on how many holidays fall on a Monday, but again, that is not set in stone.

Pathways Academy would like to wish all of our Mothers and Grandmothers a wonderful Mother's Day!

We pray that all the love and care you give to others will come back to you on your special day and always.
