CNN and 'Sesame Street' to host a town hall addressing racism

This looks like something worth checking out... As anger and heartbreak have swept across America over the killing of yet another black man at the hands of police, CNN and Sesame Street are refocusing their second town hall to address racism.

So many fun things happening at our KCP Morning Circle... here are just a few!

Here is one way to use the plastic eggs you may have in your house!
Pour out some washable paints into a bowl. Then have your little one take the top of the Easter egg and dip it into the paint. Holding it by the top have them stamp the open end into the paint then stamp it on the paper. There is no limit to the designs that they might come up with! 04/08/2020

Pom Pom Easter Egg Painting Craft for Kids - Crafty Morning

Hey everyone! Here is a fun and easy craft I was hoping to do at school! If you have paint, clothes pins, pom poms or cotton you are good to go! I found this on pinterest @ crafty morning!

Have fun! And... hot tip... just use ONE clothes pin! Then they will need to squeeze it every time to pick up a new pom pom to paint with - it's really good for their fine motor muscle development! Make awesome Easter egg prints using pom poms, clothespins and paint! 03/30/2020

How to Make Paper Strip Rainbows | Construction Paper Rainbows

Here is another quick and easy (read "rewarding") rainbow craft I found at "one little project" you can do at home. I will be demonstrating this at circle time on Tuesday... Hope you enjoy it! These paper strip rainbows are SO CUTE and they're really easy to make! Such a great construction paper craft and a fun craft for springtime (or any time!). 03/25/2020

Cardboard Rainbow Collage

Yesterday during our "Circle Time" we talked about rainbows! Who doesn't love a rainbow? Here is a project from "" to make rainbow collages! The base could either be cardboard, or maybe even the paper from a paper grocery sack. Find art supplies and "do-dads" around your home and make a beautiful collage!β˜€οΈ+🌧= 🌈 I've been wanting to post this project for a year. This rainbow collage invitation was presented to my art camp kids one year ago today, which just happened to be the same day as the Pulse night

Happy Monday everyone! Here is another activity you can do with your kiddos! Write out numbers 1-6 randomly on a page, have your child roll a dice and then find the matching number. Mark out with a dot marker, or crayon! Check this out on 03/19/2020

St. Patrick's Day Play Dough Alphabet Mats for Letter Learning

Activity for Thursday- Play Dough Literacy Mats!

First... WHY play-dough...

1) Play Dough is a fantastic way to strengthen fine motor skills, which makes this a fabulous prewriting activity!

2) Play dough can be calming and stress relieving.

3) Play dough is an excellent activity to encourage the development of hand-eye coordination.

4) Play dough is a fun sensory play activity.

5) Play dough can increase creativity and imagination.

6) The ABC play dough mats will help with teaching or practicing letter recognition and letter formation.

7) The ABC play dough mats are a fun way to introduce beginning sounds (can you think up words for each letter?)

Now that you have that play dough made, here is a link for printing out a set of Alphabet literacy mats. The trick is, once you print them, slip them into "page protectors" so that you can use them again and again. If you don't have page protectors you may try placing them on a flat piece of cardboard or the back side of a baking tray (?) and wrapping it with saran wrap... If you have another creative way to make the pages last let us know!

***SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM OF THE LINK TO THE LARGE BLUE RECTANGLE THAT SAYS "DOWNLOAD HERE"*** These St. Patrick's Day Play Dough Alphabet Mats are so much fun! Print out the alphabet play dough mats to add to your St. Patrick's Day literacy centers in Pre-K or Kindergarten this March!

[03/18/20]   ACTIVITY FOR TODAY... Make your family a batch of homemade play-dough! We do this in the classroom once a month and the children love helping to make it. Here are some of our favorite recipes...

Traditional Dough:
2 cups Flour
1 cup Salt
4 tsp Alum (or cream of Tartar)
1/4 cup oil
1 1/2 cups water (add slowly so it doesn't get too "wet")
Food coloring (gel works best - but any will do)

Kool-Aid Dough:
3 cups Flour
1/2 cup Salt
1 Tablespoon Alum (or Tartar)
2 pkgs unsweetened Kool-aid

2 Cups boiling water
3 Tablesppons oil
Add to dry ingredients... (spoon while hot, then hands to mix)

Also - go to the internet... all the no cook recipes are some combination of the above ingredients.
THIS IS A SCIENCE EXPERIMENT! If it is too sticky or too dry keep messing with it until you like it. These are great lessons in "Mistakes are our friends and our teachers" Keep at it and you will land on something great!

[03/16/20]   Preschool will be suspended at least through Spring Break (4/12)
We will miss you! 😒
