A very sad day in Massachusetts yesterday. Our family at UCS are keeping the family of Worcester Officer Manny Familia in our hearts today. A true hero lost doing what he loved. He will be missed.
We are also praying for the quick recovery of the two officers injured during a domestic violence incident yesterday. Our hearts go out to the Men and women of Braintree Police on the loss of their K-9 who succumbed to his injuries in the line of duty, protecting his officers.

Née Hampshire has Text-To-911! Remember, call if you can… Text if you can’t!
Can’t Call? Text 9-1-1 in New Hampshire!
When texting 9-1-1:
• Immediately provide your location – address, landmark, route number, etc.
• Tell the 9-1-1 call taker what type of emergency – police, fire or medical.
• Stay with your phone. Be prepared to answer questions and follow instructions.
• If you do not have a strong cell signal and cannot make a voice call, you may be able to text.
Helpful Hints:
• Do not text and drive
• Use concise, simple language – no long stories, get to the emergency
• Do not use slang, abbreviations or emoji
• Do not send images or videos
• Text-to-911 can only be received in English
• A text or data plan is required to text 9-1-1
• It is a crime to text or call 9-1-1 with a false report
• Voice calls to 9-1-1 are best - quickest way to contact 9-1-1
Please SHARE and help us spread the word about this important resource, which should be used only when it’s not safe or practical to make a 9-1-1 call (i.e. home invasion or domestic violence incident), and by those who are deaf, hard of hearing or have a speech disability.

2021 NHEDA Virtual Conference: Class Announcement
Each day you make decisions that may have lasting effects on those you interact with. Talking to a distressed caller, providing medical instructions for an injured child, or ensuring emergency response arrives at a car accident quickly. Each decision you make may have positive or negative effects. In other words, your decisions are similar to how and when a butterfly flaps its’ wings. There was an American mathematician named Edward Lorenz, best known as the founder of modern Chaos Theory. This theory relates the behavior of systems and life to the dependence on sensitive initial conditions. The instructor will relate these theories to life as a telecommunicator, discussing how small decisions each day can relate to much larger outcomes throughout life and the world. Join us for an amazing talk about life and the significance of each decision you make.
