Unbelievable
Fish Fry at the Frye (detail)
Studio visits can inspire digging through ALL of the drawers. Here’s one of my favorites from a teaching residency from….2016? I had forgotten about it until today. Thank you for the visit,
Good texture study
I hear that I missed yesterday, but I disagree. I was here, enjoying it the whole time. 🐈⬛
Feeling powerful. Right before the nasty bear sitch.
I finally got this beauty of a screen print by framed up right. It’s so flowery and beautiful, I was inspired to get an orchid to match it.
After a long day of grading, a funny cat and a funny cat poster.
Stop.

We are finally open again at Mindport. What a surreal set of years it has been. My current front windows piece has been installed for much homey than originally anticipated, but it has given me the chance to observe the trajectory of the sun in the northern hemisphere in a way that makes sense to me. So, here’s to the gift of observation that is bestowed by the passage of time and the changing of the seasons.
Yesterday, we set up my first project on the new press, which is yet another magical gift that found its way to me. I feel like I’m learning a whole new language but I also feel like I’m just getting reacquainted with an old friend. The only thing I can think to say is “Thank You.” …… or, is it “thank you”? …. Or, “Thank-You” ….. or …… 😁 anyway, you get the point. 💙✍️
Evil twins in the rain, with art 😈👿

I put together a little power point lecture to teach people about focal points this week. It took forever, even though it looks so simple. It was fun. It made me want to draw some squares and stuff.
A live shopping meeting is happening for margotbianca fabrics today! We're in session now, and the meeting will go until 4, or until people are done shopping. Join the party by clicking this link: https://us04web.zoom.us/j/8853549072

Omigod. Slicing through 16 gauge mild steel like it's butter. 💞 It's time to name this little machine. The theme is "Horses from Spanish literature."

Figure/ground, figure/ground, repeat... It's another great group for winter quarter 😊 @ Western Washington University
One of these evenings, this etching will get done.
I'm cleaning the shop today and I find that I have a very large box of reusable packing material that I need to get rid of. Anyone need peanuts, bubble wrap or foam? Come get it! (but send a text first. I'm in and out, preparing for the upcoming snowpocalypse.)
This fox's pose mirrors how I've been feeling after my return from the Caribbean and coming down with ear infections. Only, the fox is cuter while trying to stay warm...anyway. I digress. This remarkable photo is one of the images going into the upcoming show next month at . Alaskan Photographer and bear guide Drew Hamilton has been so generous with his work. Stay tuned for a scheduled gallery talk about his research on habitat changes that impact foxes, bears, birds and others. In the meantime, follow him and follow the museum for sneak previews of the show.
Thanks for visiting the shop this weekend for the MakeSale, Bellingham! It was nice to see everyone.
It's finally happening. After so much deliberation.
We're excited to be hosting a handful of wonderful vendors for this year's .shiftartspace makesale. First up is Sarah Finger ! Sarah has been a shop member here at Runaway. Good morning, Anacortes! It's day two of my favorite holiday event: the Farmer's Market at the Port! Come down to pick out some batiks, see the working boats, enjoy the channel and see all your old friends. The winter vegetables and meats are also here, in full force! @ Port of Anacortes
Some news from my other job … we're hosting an art giveaway to help build our email list. If you're interested in MindPort Events and also want to be entered to win some photographs, sign up here! http://eepurl.com/gsIf69

I really really want you to know about and then come visit this temporary exhibit that I put together for the public art window . It's a walk in Camera Obscura. It shows you Bellingham on Holly Street upside down and backwards in real time. It's coming down on November 22. I'm really proud of it and I want you to come see it. If the $3 admission is a barrier for you, I also want you to tell me, so I can buy you a pass. I'm really serious. It's an amazing experience that may not happen again. Please come (during daylight hours)

... That one time, when I was a baby, and did soooooo much printing at a Centrum residency at Fort Warden State Park. ❤️ I was delirious by the end.
Here we go! Ready for close ups! 😆 Last photo is for before/after reference! Since April, this sweet little machine has been hauled from Yakima, forklifted into the shop, polished, disassembled, sharpened, scrubbed, painted so many times, freshly greased, reassembled, leveled, and now (mostly) calibrated. Let's cut some plates already!!!! Also, suggestions for names now being accepted. Remember that the Runaway Press theme is Spanish Horses from Literature. Many thanks to the friends tagged for your invaluable help along the way. 💪🌮🍻🛠️🖌️ @ Runaway Press
The first Drawing 1 project is such a promising set. Come check out the student work on display in the Art Department hallways this quarter. @ Western Washington University
