Next for Senior Recognition is Natalie Gregory! “Next year I will be studying Nursing at University of Portland and hope to become a NICU Nurse Practitioner. Some of my favorite memories from theatre include calling “places” for the first time as a stage manager with Maria Atristain during Clue and getting to throw the fish onstage during Big Fish. Theatre has meant so much to me because of the bonds that I created. I was able to grow close to people in every grade that I would have never met if it wasn’t for theatre. I have met some of my closest friends through theatre which I will be forever grateful for. Never did I think I would be involved in theatre, but looking back I could not imagine going through high school with it being any different and am so thankful for the experiences and memories it gave me.” We ❤️ you Natalie!

Next up for Senior Recognition is Celeste Griffiths! “i am so thankful for my experience in theater! i loved being a TTO for 2 years and president my senior year. i’ve learned so much about myself and grown a lot as a person, from learning how to pick out the best tik toks for thespian meetings and becoming more confident in who i am as a person. theater has also brought me so many lifelong friends and unforgettable memories. one of my favorite memories was being dance partners with cassie medeiros during “tango de amor” in the addams family my freshman year, and competing with the very talented nora sandoval at regionals 2020. or when THE josh berk got a hair cut in the boy’s dressing room (but maybe i’ll save that story for another time). i’ll be attending the university of oregon next year and i can’t wait to come back and see the shows, i will miss all of you so much!” We ❤️ you Celeste!

Next up for Senior Recognition is Prue! “Hi my name is Pruedence Hammond and I am going to the University of Arizona for Technical Theatre. My favorite memories from theatre are from preshow fun or singing and doing makeup! Theatre has impacted me so much by not only bringing me a family but also bringing sewing and design into my life. I'm so grateful to have done theatre and I wish well to all my children of the theatre.” We ❤️ you Prue!

Next up for Senior Recognition is Logan Greger! “My experience at Southridge High would not have been as great if it wasn’t for Skyhawk theater. If I had to choose, I would say one of the best moments I had working with Skyhawk Theater was playing the Historian in Spamalot. Although we didn’t get to run through the second weekend, it was a very fun show to be a part of. It was a very unique show for me because it wasn’t just the last high school production I was in, but it was also the strangest (in a good way). When I first read the script, I felt that I had transported into Monty Python’s world completely. I just wish it could have lasted longer, but I enjoyed every single minute of it in the time that it lasted. I owe a big portion of my life to the Southridge theater department, it was because of theater that I decided to join the film industry. I will continue to pursue this career at Clackamas Community College. I know that I will miss all of the people who have stood beside me at the Southridge Theater.” We ❤️ you Logan!

Our last thespian of the week for the 2019-2020 school year is Jeremy Pettit! “Shrek was such a fun show and I loved every single moment but Big Bright Beautiful World was just so good every time we went though it. If I could act/sing my dream role would be Marvin from In Trousers/Falsettos, and tech-wise I'd have to say my dream show would probably be In Trousers as well. A fun fact about me would be... the show that got me interested in theatre was Legally Blonde the Musical!” That’s all for the year!!

Our next Senior Recognition is for JBW! “Theatre has become a part of me, it has shown me how a story can relate to almost every aspect of life. It’s shown me how characters can become a part of who you are. My favorite memory of theatre was my second time at state, seeing so many thespians in one place who love the art as much as I did will always be close to my heart. I plan on going to PCC and studying political science, as well as take on a job in retail. I want to meet people in their day to day lives, and hear the stories that they carry with them.” We ❤️ JBW!

Next up for senior recognition is Tristan! “Greetings, Comrades. My name is Tristan Madron, and next year I'm going to go to PCC for practically free with the Oregon Promise Program, and after which I'll most likely go to OSU to round out a Historical Studies Degree. While difficult to choose, my favorite memory from Theatre is when I accidentally forgot to change costume into Tim the Enchanter for a Spamalot Dress Rehearsal, and decided that Mrs. Galahad was Tim the Enchantress all along. Participating in Theatre has really given me space to by myself in a way I can't be anywhere else, and performing in Skyhawk Theatre and learning from Mr. Fewer has really helped me refine my abilities as an actor and given me the tools to continue developing the skills needed to perform. All the people I've met through theatre, and the friends I've made doing have been life changing. I'm so grateful I had the opportunity to be a part of a community that not only strives to be a loving inclusive place, but one that pushes me to do my best as well.” We ❤️ Tristan!

Next up for Senior Recognition is Julia. “Hey thespians!! I’m Julia Perfili. Starting this fall I’ll be attending Brigham Young University in Provo, UT double-majoring in musical theatre and family studies. My goal is to work for disney and get a PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy. I want to create and heal :) Speaking of, my favorite memories from SRHS Theatre have to do with family moments. Sophomore year during Big Fish, I was the only lead who was an underclassmen. I felt so nervous and scared, but all the seniors (@blong, @beverly_anderson) in the cast took me in and lifted me up. Shout out to @cassiepmed for the words that stuck in my head every night before I set foot on stage, “You were cast for a reason.” That’s always stayed with me ❤️. Also I loved Little Mermaid callbacks when @the_fancy_glancy shook his “tail” in front of our entire department when auditioning for Scuttle 😂 He got the part lol.” We ❤️ you Julia!

To honor the amazing seniors within the Southridge Theater Department, we will be posting a 2020 Senior Recognition each week! Our first senior is Liana Greger. “Next year, I will be attending the University of Puget Sound and minoring in music! My favorite memory from theatre has got to be playing Princess Fiona in Shrek. In sixth grade, Shrek was the first show I ever saw at Southridge and I remember being completely awestruck by the amount of talent on that stage! Getting to play Fiona my senior year was the most perfect, full-circle moment and it fulfilled a dream of mine! Over the past seven years, theatre has meant so much to me. When I look back on my high school experience, I realize that my life would be completely different if I didn’t participate in the performing arts. Theatre has given me a second family full of the most absurdly wonderful people I have ever met. There is no possible way for me to describe all that theatre has done for me in words. It is too powerful to explain. I am going to miss everything, from blasting music while getting ready backstage to sitting in the quiet auditorium. Skyhawk Theatre will always be near and dear to my heart and I cannot wait to see what happens next. :)” We love you Liana!! ❤️
