Embracing the New Samaria: Opening Our Eyes to Our Multiethnic Future 07/05/2023

This book seeks “to help Christian leaders learn to see, love, reach, and ultimately be the New Samaria” (page 11). By “New Samaria,” the author refers to the “Samaritans among us… people who are near but different” (page 10), like the immigrants and those who have been marginalized, ignored, and treated unjustly. The author proposes to embrace the New Samaria through what he calls the GC3: the Great Commission (spreading the good news to the ends of the earth) and the Great Commandment (loving your neighbor as yourself) and to build the Great Community (transformation of the community of believers and their influence in the communities).

“Ministry is not what pastors do. Ministry is what every child of God is supposed to do!”

“Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them. “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.””
