Today is World Down Syndrome Day! It is a day to celebrate the extra awesomeness of people with Down syndrome! 💛💙🙌🏻
This years theme for is End Stereotypes!

💛Stereotypes can stop people with Down syndrome and intellectual disabilities from being treated fairly and underestimate their abilities.
💙People are all different. Each person with Down syndrome is different. Each person with an intellectual disability is different
We each have our individual identity, interests, likes and dislikes, gifts and talents, just like everyone else. So speak up and end stereotypes! Everyone deserves a chance!

We wrapped up CACFP Week by making our own English muffin pizzas, Painting with fruit and a veggie tasting! Introducing foods in different ways can help your child not be as scared to try them. Tomatoes were not the biggest hit of the day, however after the celery painting we had a lot of littles willing to give it a try! Even though CACFP Week is over we will still continue teaching about and offering new and healthy foods everyday! 🍅🥒🥦

Out of the 4,600 licensed centers in the state of Georgia we were honored to be selected by the Georgia Department of Early Care & Learning and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to host this years CACFP event! The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is a federal program that provides reimbursements to schools for nutritious meals and snacks. Last year alone, CACFP operators, including our school, served 64,883,038 meals across the state of Georgia!

We want to say thank you to all of our staff members for all of your hard work and dedication! We would not be who we are without you!

As CACFP Week continues we encourage you to try to incorporate some fresh foods into meals at home! 🍊🍓🍈🌽🥕🫑

As we continue celebrating CACFP week we wanted to share some of the things we have added to help showcase ! We wanted to have lots of ways to teach our littles about how fresh fruits and vegetables go from the garden to our plate!

The kitchen can be a fascinating place for young children. To kick off CACFP week we decided to bring the kitchen to the class! Kids can help out in the kitchen as early as 2 years old. Cooking together is a great way to build relationships in your family and the community. Teaching things like washing their hands, peeling foods, and cutting with child safe materials are all age appropriate ways to let your little one help out!

Our Read across America journey has included the classic series of Pete the cat and The very hungry caterpillar! These books are always a favorite among our kiddos. We expanded learning by making props, showing off our own favorite shoes, sorting games, and felt board stories. It's amazing to see how young readers and learners are so enthusiastic about diving into the world of books. Together we can continue to make books and reading readily available to kids, nurturing lifelong readers who thrive! 📚

Today is Tremendous TEAMwork Tuesday! We focused on
working together to accomplish a goal. Building a curriculum for this week is a huge team effort so we decided to load the resource room with lots of books and materials to help! The classrooms worked on class murals together, played games of musical chairs and worked together to clean the classroom!

Learning to work as part of a team will help your child hone many social skills, such as patience, empathy, communication, respect for others, compromise and tolerance. It also helps them develop confidence in themselves and trust in other people.

February is best known for Valentine’s Day, but did you know that it is also American Heart Month? The heart is such an important, and interesting, organ in the body. It keeps our bodies running, keeps the blood moving, and is one of the most important parts of the body. 🩷
Today we served: Whole Grain Bagels, String Cheese, Celery and Strawberries! Here are some reasons this is a very heart healthy meal!
• Eating whole grains is associated with lower cholesterol and lowers risk of heart disease
• Strawberries jam-packed with nutrients that play a central role in heart health.
• Although celery has a high-water content, it contains numerous vitamins and minerals, including potassium and calcium, which are important for heart health.
• Dairy is a good source of protein and calcium, both of which are important for a healthy heart.

This week is inclusive learning week. Today’s Theme is Marvelous ME Monday so we focused on
Recognizing Individuality.

Infants - toddlers Had some flashlight fun by dimming the lights and pointing out the shadow and body parts.

Our 2yr old classes outlined their bodies with crayons and then the we talked about different parts of their body drawing.

Preschool and Pre-k read the book of the day ‘What I Like About Me!” After Engaging in a conversation about things that make them unique like their eye color, facial features, hair color etc. They each drew a self-portrait to display in the classroom.

We had our staff create a meet the teacher form and we have placed them on the outsides of each classroom. Take the time to stop by and read a little bit about your teachers.

Welcome to Preschool 3!
Ms. Hannah, Ms. Bri and Ms. Ana are perfect fits for our 3-year-old classroom! They are all full of energy and love playing just as much as their kiddos. They are very patient, loving and great with handling those 3-year-old roller coaster emotions!
Leave a comment or a like below to help show them how much we appreciate them!

Preschool is not only a fun and exciting experience for children, but also for their teachers. Your preschooler needs to be challenged, motivated, and encouraged. They also need to be free to independently explore and discover as well as a fair amount of instruction and support. This is why we work to provide many hands-on opportunities for them to learn through experience.

Language: Perhaps the most noticeable change is that 3-year-olds start to speak in longer and longer sentences. Talking in longer sentences is also a new thing you will start to see. This allows your child to begin to tell stories about things that happened. It is always exciting to hear about your little one’s day! You will also notice changes in their grammar endings on verbs, like walked and walking to talk about things that happened in the past versus things that are happening right now.

Cognitive: The concept of time starts to make more sense at this age. We start introducing more enforced daily schedule in this class. Your Child will Start to understand the parts of the day a little more and know what is happening and when each day. Your Child will also start to be more imaginative and will engage in more involved fantasy play. While their imagination grows you will see lots of different ideas such as visiting a castle one day and being a superhero the next. They will start to tell you more about their day as their ability to remember and recall parts of a story improves. You’ll be amazed at the stories they are able to come up with.

Gross Motor: Your child will increase a lot of their Gross Motor skills at this age. Things like Standing on one foot for 3 seconds, walking up and down stairs reciprocating (one foot on each step), Jumping with both feet simultaneously, Throwing a ball both under and over hand. We provide many outdoor and indoor opportunities to work on gross motor skills which improves their climbing and running skills. Playing outside is important for many reasons, getting out extra energy is a huge plus too!

Fine Motor: At age 3, children are developing fine motor control. they’re more able to move their fingers independently, using them in more complex tasks such as holding writing utensils like an adult, cutting with scissors and making more complex and precise drawings. They have also developed more spatial awareness, allowing them to be more intentional in play. For example, they will start to stack numerous blocks, unbutton buttons, thread beads and eat with a fork.

Social Emotional: Three-year old’s enjoy pretend play, such as using a toy kitchen to cook dinner, using a toy vacuum to clean the floor, or using a toy doctor’s kit to give a shot to a stuffed animal. Providing environments to encourage parallel play help them slowly learn how to build relationships and move into associate play as they get older.

This week is Severe Weather Preparedness Week in Georgia. We participated in the statewide tornado drill this morning at 9am. We took this opportunity to discuss severe weather and used social stories to help prepare them before the actual drill. 🌪⛈

Collaborative projects provide opportunities to build teamwork and cooperation skills. When children collaborate together, they learn the value of effective communication, active listening, and respecting the ideas of others. Creating a sense of community and social connections is another huge benefit from collaborative activities. Children develop bonds, form friendships, and build shared memories as they work together! 🖌🎨
