Get your children involved in spring cleaning! Make a game out of clean up—see who can put their toys in the bins fastest. Ask them to help find missing socks and their matches or to sort their laundry into different baskets by color. When children help you clean up, they’re developing important self-awareness, self-management and responsible decision-making skills!
Summer with Goddard will follow three engaging themes: I Am Changing, The World is Changing and I Can Change the World. Our first theme, I Am Changing, will focus on helping children build confidence, learn new skills and celebrate all of their amazing accomplishments!

Happy National Crayon Day! Let's celebrate by getting crafty with a fun, at-home art project that will spark your child’s creativity as they develop their fine motor skills and color and shape identification.

1. Preheat your oven to 300° F.
2. Collect crayons and peel off the labels.
3. Break the crayons into tiny pieces.
4. Add the pieces into a cupcake pan or baking mold and bake them for 10-15 minutes.
5. Remove the pan from the oven and let it cool for at least 30 minutes.

Have fun creating masterpieces with your DIY crayon creation!

We know that teachers are some of the most inspirational people in children’s lives. And that fact is beautifully illustrated in “The Dot,” written and illustrated by Peter H. Reynolds. A little encouragement from our amazing teachers can help children see the beautiful in the mundane and realize they have the potential to do anything they set their minds to.

As babies become toddlers, they start to discover different things about their bodies like their teeth, which can lead to painful experiences for family and friends. Goddard School teachers Ms. Lisa and Ms. Karin introduced the Life Lesson Library book “Teeth Are Not for Biting” written by Elizabeth Verdick and illustrated by Marieka Heinlen, which helped their students learn what teeth are for.

On Saturday a Mother (Grace) & a Daughter (Gia) from our Goddard Family was involved in a horrible accident on Route 15 near Lovetsville Rd. A tree fell on their car on their way to get ice cream. A 5-inch branch went through the windshield impaling Grace and pinning her to the car. Gia was physically unharmed and sat in the back seat while this brave Mommy & Daughter duo were there for each other through this traumatic event. Grace has sustained damage to vital organs, bones, major blood vessels and more. She has a long road of recovery ahead of her.
Here at The Goddard School of Ashburn on The George Washington Campus we believe that the early childhood years are so important. We would like to provide their family with fun experiences and little things to do for a 5 year old girl and 10 year old girl. We will also have staff from our school to partake in these fun activities. If Grandma wants to have a fun day with them, she will go but we are happy to take these girls and ensure they have some much-needed fun and support! If you have any ideas or would like to contribute to the cost of these fun activities or supplies, please reach out to Joanna Robinson [email protected] or (703) 724-0601). If you call our school we have the following in our office team. Madhu the onsite owner, Joanna a Director, Ann a Director, and Amanda a Director are here to chat with you. Thank you so much for your support! Please keep them in your thoughts.

Life Lesson Library provides families with simple, fun and effective activities to do at home that guide your child’s development of the five core social-emotional skills. By practicing what your child learns here at School, you’ll see how the skills present themselves in early childhood.

Dream Big Little One written and illustrated by Vashti Harrison introduces children to amazing Black women in history and teaches them about self-awareness. After you read the book, ask your children open-ended questions like “What are you great at?” and “What’s something you want to learn more about?”

Did you know that pet ownership has a lot of great benefits for children? It doesn’t matter if your pets are fuzzy, slimy or pretend. They all help teach children responsibility, empathy, respect and companionship.
